Okay, I've tried three new hair products and bought 1 new styling tool.
1. Soft Sheen Optimum Care Soft Holding Spritz- This is really nice. It offers just what it says, a soft, touchable hold. My hair is not hard and ready to break off. I used it with my ponytail style and it kept those stray hairs in place all day. I have not tried it on a major hairstyle, yet. $3.29 for 8 ounces.
2. Elucence All Day Hold Spritz- smells great, withstands humidity even with my thick, porous hair, dries fast with no flakes, but too hard for my taste. It should probably be diluted a bit. I probably won't buy it again . About $6.00 for 10 ounces.
3. Elucence Silk Hydrating Elixir- I think this is supposed to be a shine serum and heat protectant in one. It feels like liquid silk in your hands and on your hair. I applied it to my damp hair then blowdried and flat-ironed. My hair felt silky, not greasy, slightly moisturized (not died out), and not weighed down. My hair did not look super shiny, but had a nice sheen. I think I will purchase it again. $9.00 for 6 ounces.
4. Revlon 2-in-in Ceramic Straightener and Curler- I bought this yesterday at Wal-Mart for only $17. It has 25 heat settings, but doesn't get too hot to me (no danger of burning my hair). I used setting 25 on my thick, coarse hair, using about 1 inch sections. It did straighten much better and faster than my old Gold-N Hot flat iron. I did not use the curler part. For the price, it did the job well. Good first ceramic flat iron for the economically challenged.
