I just realized that I didn't even think to have dh take a back shot. He was in a rush and I had to twist his arm just to take this shot. The ends are free so I guess it's not technically protective. But it's the "Jamila" version of protective, LOL.

Yeah, the back is a french roll with the ends curled and out, I attempted to pull the hair all to one side for a different look but it wasn't too successful.

For the curls, I freshened up a 2 day old wet set. I used the poor man's version of Caruso's - regular magnetic rollers (small yellow Goody's) with slightly damp hair. I left them in for about 20 minutes, then unrolled before the hair dried completely. I set with a light hairspray. Not letting it dry completely allows the curls to hang in spirals instead of tight little curls.
