So I am rocking the contraversial micros in wet & wavy milky way. Got them right before the new year rolled in, and so far I am loving them.

I oil my scalp with castor oil; moisturize and seal with S-curl and vaseline; then braid it up until it's time to go out.
My wash and DC will only be done every 2 weeks with this style, and I'm careful not to apply too much pressure to the braids.

Oh, and my hair has product on it in these photos

They look very small and natural, I wouldn't be brave enough to go that tiny as my hair suffers so easily. Big *** dookie braids for me it is lol

Nice!!

how long did it take? I got tired of sitting in my chair just looking at those tiny braids!!

PS I didn't know micros were controversial.....what's the deal?

I really like this...This would be perfect for my vacation in May, but I don't think I have the courage to get micro.

I like them, I haven't worn braids in over 12 years but I always liked the surprise length i got when I took them down.

Very pretty, OP! I'm wearing micros as well. I have a regimen similiar to the Crown and Glory method.

Some people have reported breakage issues after wearing micros. I think it has a lot to do with how you maintain them as well as, removing them and detangling before washing.:ohwell: I personally love micros. They, along with Senegalese Twists, were my favorite PS when I transitioned from relaxed to natural.

They look really nice but I'd hate to have to sit and take them out at the end of 6-8 weeks :spinning:

6-8 weeks? Wow! I usually wear mine anywhere between 8-12 weeks without problems.

Oh they took forever, about 8 or 9 hours. I have had them before and taken them down with no problems, it just takes a whole lot of patience, I think one of the keys to a successfull take down is using a product with major slip.

When I am ready to take down I usually start to conditioner wash daily, I just soak my head in conditioner let the hair straight down and then let the shower run over it, and let it air dry the smae way. This starts the loosening process and after I do this a few times, removal is a piece of cake.

Thanks. Sitting to get them was by far the worst of it! But I think it's worth it because I like them, and the low maintenance once they are in. Some folk think that micros are the devil tho!

Very pretty, and natural looking.
Funny how with hair, things become controversial and labeled as dangerous, before they inspire knowledge and prevention.
Allowing pressure and tension caused a bit of breakage in the past with micros, and I'm thinking of revisiting them this year, with a lesson learned.

ahhhh, nothing to with your hair, but when I looked at the pics I was thinking .... those scenes look soooo Caribbean, then I scrolled up and saw ur location :grin::grin:

Looking good OP! *sigh* I miss my micros. They're not bad as long as you take care to keep them moisturized.

*Slightly OT* I NEVER wash my braids. I only cleansed my scalp with witch hazel or gentle sea breeze. I'd use the freshening spray if they began to smell but that was a complete rarity. I really miss braids.

They're really neat. Looking good!

Also, sorry this is off-topic, but OP, I'm looking at your pictures, see the background, and think, "That looks like home." Just look at your location, and turns out you are at home. I'm from Nassau too. Always happy to see another Bahamian.

I'm in micros at the moment, too. This sounds like a really good idea for when I'm ready to take down.

As an ex-micro braids abuser, I can tell you they reek havoc on your edges.

Watch those edges, gurrah! (They look great btw, I miss my braids!)
