My natural --I love my hair!!!

My natural by me

unaltered, uninhibited, unrestrained,
under-appreciated and sometimes unloved
both glorified and objectified
viewed by some as a gift and others a curse
from above

a cottony ball of confusion
not knowing which way to go
finally decided to stop fighting it
and learned to go with the flow

Lived years of my life
based on a lye
at first told by others
then I became my own sacrifice

It was like meeting another
for the first time in this world
my texture
my glory
my mane
my curls

I wanted straight hair like those on TV...Once upon a time
fast forward decades later
now a little girl wants hair like mine
tears formed quickly when I received this news
my natural is not a trend, I'm changing attitudes

I love my natural hair too..
locs that reach out to the sun
absorbing energy that transfigures life
roots sprouting from the earth of “mind” in which
I am forever planted.

I never really got to know her
for I was always trying to fix her
No-Lye, I tell you
trying to change her to something she is not
In 2007, we learned to agree to disagree
She's is now my long lost friend
My crown and glory
She is what makes me a lioness
Queen of the World
Im Natural
I am myself
I am NaturallyNunu and I LOVE MY HAIR

I'm sorry.....
I'm sorry i lyed to you.
I'm sorry i fried you.
I'm sorry i neglected you.
I'm sorry i didn't get to know you.
I'm sorry i fought against you.
I'm sorry i didn't listen to you.

Thank you....
Thank you for being patient with me.
Thank you for waiting for me.

You are beautiful...........
Because you are what God intended.
Because you are unique.
Because you are one of a kind.
Because you are versatile.

No longer am i trying to hide you.....i wear you with pride.

(I haven't written a poem since primary school but this thread inspired me to express my thoughts)

It took me decades
To realize how beautiful u are
How powerful u are
How Hypnotic u are
Drawing them in like beez 2 honey
When I let u loose they spend that money
Girls ask me, "how ur hair do that?"
I answer, "that's how it's meant to be!"
The sista on the stage, beautiful as can be
She spins around to shake that weave
Only to realize all eyez on me
Me and the Lioness mane
How it's meant to be

Tell-Tale Hair by me

Misunderstood
hidden
dying to be free
from a case of mistaken identity

more than a statement
more than a fad
if my hair is not good
then I love being bad

so many years
spent running from the truth
feels good being home
back to my roots

Girl, your hair is nappy
do something with that mess
Why? No need to relax
My hair is not stressed

From the hot comb to Just For Me
I even used African Pride
too funny
did not even see the irony

Everything that God made was good
from Sasha and Malia's hair in the whitehouse
to the young sister's crowning glory in the hood

Now I comprehend
revealed
resurrected once again
my hair is no longer my enemy
my hair is now my friend

Very beautiful. This should be a sticky.

Contributors make sure your original poetry is copy written...before we see this lovely stuff on t-shirts.

Wow!. :thankyou:

Between my thoughts and the air,
suspended in a way
I never thought was intended
there are growing spirals
of what has yet to come,
of what I have been waiting for,
of what has always been here.
