The water where I am at is horrible (I mean soo horrible that I left the water leaking by accident in my bathroom and not even a day goes by that the white tub turns yellow , had to scrub for 2 min to get it back white again).

This same type of water is making my hair laugh at me...tried several products thinking that my hair didn't like them but what is the point if the water is one of the main source of the problem. I would buy bottled water if I can afford to but I can't (poor college student:( ).

Not only am I clueless as to what I should do I am sick and tired of my hair being sooo dry no matter what I do. I tried asking the landlord about the water and she was like "there is nothing I can do about it".

Thanks for letting me vent a little

Assalaamu 'alaiki Amina, Maybe you can boil some water the night b4 wash day and see if that helps get rid of the things that's drying your hair out. And oh yeah don't forget to add that to your dua's (since the prayer of a fasting person is accepted. :D inshaAllaah) Also doing an overnight pre poo w/your favorite hair oil may help keep it from being so dry when poo. HTH's

Dear Hopeless in Louisiana,

Go to the nearest walmart, get the the gallons of distilled water for $1.98 and your hair will thank you.

Signed,

Went through the same thing in SC

I agree w/everybody above. U will either have to buy some gallons at Walmart or boil your water. Also, you can buy like two or three gallons of water to begin with, then boil your water, let it cool, and fill up those empty gallons when they get low. You can also put boiled/cooled water and some cheapo conditioner in a little spray bottle for daily use. Then you would limit the amt of times you wash your hair -maybe once a week. Also pre-poo treatments help.

I agree with boiling water since your a college student on a budget. Feel better Amina. Everything is going to work out. :)

Sounds like a classic case of hard water. I had to scrub my tub all the time. Nothing gets that stuff off but elbow grease. If it is hard water boiling won't help unless you own a distiller. I would I'd say clarify often and use a mild (and diluted) clarifying poo to keep it away. Using distilled water is really the best option.

ETA: http://www.wholesalewaterdistillers.com/distiller-water/love-water-distillers <--- That's a water distiller so you can make your own distiller water. I thought about getting one before I got a water softener.

Wow. The distilled water in my walmart is 58 cents.
But if buying water is not an option then I agree with using a gentle clarifying or chelating shampoo like Kenra. I think Honeydew uses this one.
