Scrappy, for the pieces of scraps coming out her head she call hair:lachen::wallbash:

I asked her what is her problem with God given hair, she said it's just so, so nappy ha ha ha I can't stand nappy hair.

I said but Mom you have spent a lifetime running from your nappy hair and what has it gotten you?

I said my hair is healthier than it's ever been in my life and Dayum it! I look Good!

I could see her having something to say if she had amazing chemically treated hair. but her hair is H.A.M.
So she really irks me. As it is I limit my communication with her to once a month it's about to be every 6 months
next it will be never:rolleyes:

So sorry you had this experience with your mom though. I'm sure it has to be bothersome & difficult.

:lachen::lachen::lachen: @ the Scrappy and at Beetlebug for that siggy! Thanks for keepin' it real! And making me laugh...better than Fail blog

LOL...at least your mom didn't tell you that you looked like a little boy, like mine did when she first saw my BC. Then she was back tracking when everyone else LOVED it and they couldn't stop going on about how good it looked...sheesh...mothers - you can't live with 'em, and you can't live without 'em...

I am not mad anymore, I just can't have foolish people in my life and that includes my mother:perplexed

aw man. OP i definitely understand where you're coming from. my mother is the same way, except she hides her HAM underneath HAM weaves. no doubt she's going to try & slip me a relaxer for christmas; she's just that dead set against "nappy" hair.

i find not talking to my mom makes my life easier, & i see the method works for you as well :yep:

This has to be one of the funniest mother/dd dialogues I've seen/heard in a long time. Ashame some black people STILL don't get it. Even if I never elect to go natural, I have nothin' but admiration for those who've done it. IMO it speaks volumes about the level of confidence it takes to do so, especially in a culture that seemingly will never embrace or appreciate our natural features as being beautiful.

The first time my mother saw my natural fro, she called me "that thing"
At my Grandmother's funeral where I was looking FLY I must say, she said "I guess it look a lil better"

Fortunately I divorced myself from tying my identity to her opinion of me years ago. What she don't know is I am about to Divorce her perminately:ohwell:

Some days I can only love her when I don't talk to her:perplexed

I was reading your post earlier about stretching your relaxer 21 weeks and seeing you liked your natural texture. Then I saw your hair and I can see why it would be hard to let all that beautiful hair you go.
It wasn't hard for me to go Natural I didn't have that much relaxexed hair to hang on to LOL

:blush3: Thanks. My dd is relaxed and WL, and I'm thinking about both of us transitioning. It is a tough call for me to make for her especially. I think if we were NL, I would've BC'd by now. Maybe even APL...*sigh* Congrats to you though:yep:

It sounds like no matter what choices you make concerning your hair you are a fast grower. There are a few ladies on here who transitioned for like 24 months beforethe BC. at that point their natural hair was the same length as their relaxed hair.:yep:

I know what you mean

My mother flat out called me stupid. But at least she did it to my face, my dad talked about me behind my back to anyone that would listen. I finally relaxed because I was sick of them treating me like a weird ugly science experience.

As much as my mom was talking about nappy this nappy that to me after I BC'd I think I'm finally getting her to transition. She talking about her hair nappy and all I see are waves talking about how she never saw her real texture so I think she's going to give it a shot after being pro-perm for life.

If I did ever disown my mother
the hair issue would merely be the straw that broke the camel's back.

I perfer to umm Love her from a far! It's for my own sanity:drunk::spinning:
i figured your issues with your mother was about more than just hair... you just posted an incident that happened to be about hair considering this is a hair board:ohwell:

eta: i luv your hair in the siggy... it is fluffy in a good way!
