Ok I'm crazy mad because I wrote a thread and then some how it was deleted...sooo Im gonna try to bullet the issues...how i got here..and yeah the pics of how my mess of a head looks now..

  • Used to get glue in weaves and braid abour 6 years(no growth--lots of breakage & damage)
  • Shortly after I found a regular hair dresser & started getting a regular sew in for a little more than a year w/ trims in between
  • Lots of growth..decided to not wear weave
  • hadnt had a perm in almost 8 years so needless to say after getting my hair pressed in about 10 minutes my hair looked like *ch ch ch chia*
  • Caved and got two perms---bad---didnt help anything
  • Decided to go back to sew ins but now i have this old textural thing going on and i cannot manage my hair at all
  • there are pics below of how my hair is now
if any one can recommend any regimens for healthy hair growth--and protective styling i would be soooo greatful..thanks so much
p.s. i really wanna stay natural and away from perms..but i dont think thats an option right now for me..i really dont wanna bc.

Hi
I would say get ready for a lot of reading. I read constantly when I first starting learning how to take care of my hair.
I did some blogs for my co-workers that you can read if you are interested.

Long Hair Care Forum - lovegymnasts

Good luck and hopefully someone will be able to help

:bighug: I dont have any suggestions because I never transitioned but i know how frustrating it can be when you cant seem to get a handle on your hair. I'm sure you'll get great responses because there are some very smart and generous ladies on this site.

lol@ the title of the thread

I agree it's time for you to really start to learn your hair and do research. There is a huge 'Transitioning support' thread on here. You can do it, you just have to learn how to deal with 'your' hair natural, it takes time. I'ts not going to just come all at once to you anywhere from anyone. There is tons of information here and support, have patience and take the time you need to learn/research all that you can. Just knowing you can make a complete turn around from this point on and committing to taking the steps to start means you are definitely headed in the right direction. :bighug:

If you don't want to BC you need to start transitioning to keep away from the perms. You can do little chops or just grow, grow & grow and then do a big chop when you have a good 7 or 8 inches of hair. Sistaslick has a few good guides you can read through by using the search.

P.s You don't need sew ins or glue ins during the transition. There are extensions, half wigs, wigs, ect. I actually don't like any of these, anything that covers the hair besides a hat, I'm not for. But you can rock a lot of cute styles during transition to natural and be able to work with the two textures you'll develop :) Youtube hair gurus have great transition tips including RusticBeauty.

I agree with everyone else. I can only suggest what I would do and I hope it helps. The first thing I would do is trim the really bad ends, use a good clarifying shampoo. Then I would find a good deep conditioner and start from there. As far as styles I would just cornrow the hair and wear a nice wig until you find the best practices for your hair. It takes time to find the right products and techniques and its truly a learning experience. Once you find a moisturizing deep conditioner and a daily moisturizer than you can start building a good regimen. One thing that I've learned is that what others do may not work for me. HTH

My suggestion would be (aside from a trim maybe) to give your hair a hard protein treatment if is is breaking very badly. You can use the Alphogee protein treatment or even an egg from the refrigerator.

Another alternative is a black tea rinse. It is known to stop shedding and breakage. You may want to do this after your hair is in a better condition.

you will need the protein in order to
keep your demarcation line ( the line where your natural and chemically treated hair meet) to stay entact.

After the hard protein treatment follow up with a deep conditioner ( So many to choose from). I use Aussie moist 3 minute deep condish. This will help to keep your hair soft and manageable

Protective styling:

Cornrows, twists, braids etc. I usually do my twist while wet saturated with a leave in conditioner and lacefront for the rest of the month.

As for everyday proper care. Every night (or every other night) Spray with a leave in conditioner and seal your ends with an oil: Hot Six, Wonder 8, Alma Coconut, Sunflower Oil, Tea Tree oil etc (so many to name) and wrap it up at night.

I hope this helps and sorry about your mishap.
