My Hair Is So Dry

I use the loc method, except my c is gel. I think it works well. What really helped my dry hair (during the winter months) was putting oil on the hair and leaving it for at least 20 minutes before I washed. I don't heat it the oil first either. My hair has been super moisturized since I started doing this like a month ago.

It didn't work for me. I had to start water rinsing my hair every 3 to 4 days and dropped shampoo to once a month. Only then did things start working for me.

But you should try loc. You may have to try a few things before you find your solution.

Thank you and I tried it last night. I twisted my hair afterwards. So I'll see when take them down.

The one thing that has started helping me to retain moisture is a protein step during my wash days. Every wash (every 1.5 to 2 weeks if my hair is not in braids) I use the Komaza protein strengthener. I always thought my hair was protein sensitive so I avoided protein like the plague but found out that wasn't true. I can truly say that has helped me because I washed my hair on Christmas Eve and due to time restrictions I skipped the protein strengthener and my hair has been dry alllllll week. I learned my lesson. I also just bought oyin hair dew for a moisturizer without glycerin. I live in New England so the air and the glycerin just do not work for me.

I can't do moisturisers/ stylers with glycerin either (UK girl here). I also find that a protein DC will help my hair retain moisture.

Coming out from 4months of wig wearing, I hadn't been wetting my hair as often as usual and it was feeling dry last week (and I used flaxseed gel:nono:). After protein DC & moisture DC, my hair is feeling much better- softer and more defined.

I tried the LOC method, but the LCOB method works best for me, along with baggying daily; pre-pooing under heat & CW on Tuesdays; and DC under heat & CW or shampoo & reconstruct on Saturdays.

I use glycerine products in the winter. I usually wear my hair in two strand twists. I cover my hair with a plastic steam cap then put my winter hat on before going outside. Hair doesn't dry out. Shouting out from Canada.
