it doesn't seem like it's getting any longer

! Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the thickness (most of the time) but it just seems like instead of growing down, it's growing OUT

! Does anyone else have this problem with their hair? I would really appreciate ANY suggestions.

Oh, I almost forgot to add: Currently I am taking the following vitamins- Biotin, Msm, and a Multi. Also, I wash my hair every 3 days and have been roller setting. Thanks

How are your ends? If they are weak(since your roots are coming in strong and thick)...the stronger new growth may be weakening the fragile ends. Once you cut more and more of the 'older' hair off, you will see more of the length. Also I thought my hair was at a stand still until I flat ironed..then I saw it had grown more than I thought. I'm back to protective styling though.

Hey thanks for responding SC! I thought for a while that my ends were looking kinda thin, but they are back on track. When I do flat iron, (I have a ceramic flat iron, and I am SOOOOOOOOOO adicted to it

) I can tell that it is getting there slowly but surely. I have started back with my roller setting because I was getting way too spoiled by that flat iron. Like I said, the thickness is GREAT, but I would just LOVE to see more length. Oh well

, I guess maybe I will have to have more patience. Any more suggestions are welcomed, thanks

My daughter's hair is like this. That's just the way her's grows. First she gets a ton of thickness, then the length comes.

Stormy, ur daughter & I share that same hair quality

. My hair is a bit past the bottom of my strap. However, now, with 3 or so inches of thick new growth, my hair is not even touching the top strap
shocked.gif
, that's cause it's growing "out" instead of "down". If i were to relax, it's probably only several inches from my waist. People who notice would ask "did u cut ur hair?" ... it's just that obvious.

babychoc-- how did you get you hair to thicken up-- I am having the opposite problem-- my hair is growing but its also thinning-- so much so I am thinking of going natural but I LOVE relaxed hair so I dunno what to do.

Count me in! Since, I've removed most of my relaxed hair, my hair is going east-west instead of south!!

Babychoc, don't despair. It's a sign of growth girl!!

Hello Peachtree

When your hair is wet, can you see the length (bottom of bra strap), or even when wet, is it still hard to tell how long it is? I was just wondering because before my last touch up, I didn't think I had retained any inches/new growth; needless to say, when I got my hair done, there was a lot of extra inches.

I think I am experiencing something similar. My hair doesn't seem to be getting any longer but I think it is. I'm just used to getting a touch-up and seeing the length immediately. Since I'm transitioning, I don't get to see my real length anymore. However, when I am in the shower washing my hair esp as I'm rinsing out the conditioner, I can see that when my hair is stretched, it's just a few inches from my waist. Funny because as I wear it now, it's just at my bra strap or a little below. It will be interesting to see how long it is when I do get it blowdried at the end of august for a trim.

Thanks for the replies everyone

Luvhair: I have always had thick hair my whole life, but now I think it has gotten thicker since I have been doing deep conditions, washing regularly, being more gentle, and not abusing it with heat. That's it, nothing really special. Also, almost forgot, I have stopped using brushes on my hair. I use to brush all the time all the way through, not caring how much hair I lost
fishslap.gif
. But I haven't brushed in over a 2 years now. HTH

how do you get away with not brushing at all-- I brush a couple times a week but I use a soft boar bristle brush. Do you use your fingers? I have always had really thick hair but as its getting longer its thinning out a lot.

Peachtree and caramelkiss, my daughter's hair is so thick people question if it's her's or not when she's wearing a ponytail. Plus it's course. The length when down is only to her neck, but when it's up you would never be able to tell. And when it's styled in a bob it's so bouncy and full of body! She complains that her hair isn't getting any longer, I complain that mine isn't getting any thicker. I guess neither one of us will ever be satisfied 100%.

I consider you ladies lucky. I really do!

hairlove your hair is beautiful! Are you sure you're a 4A? or 3C?

I only use wide toothed combs and my fingers when I need to comb my hair, but mostly my fingers. It's really easy for me to go without a bursh. My sis is the one that told me to try it and I thought that I wouldn't be able to do it, but believe it or not it was way easier than I thought. It just took some getting use to, that's all. Plus it has saved me a TON of hair
trampoline.gif
! HTH.

I can also go without brushing my hair though I never thought that would be possible. I just comb it through with my wide tooth comb, then apply my styling products, and smooth with my hands. Sometimes, I'll comb that through with a fine tooth comb and then smooth with my hands. Then, I just put on my scarf for a few hours. Smooth hair with no brushing. Amazing actually! Try it!

Stormy, thanks for the compliment. You're the 2nd person to ask me about type today! lol I am starting to think I am 3c in the front and 4a in the back. I don't really know.

You know babychoc, I'm on the same vitamin regimen as you and my hair is getting very, very, thick. It's always been on the thick side, but now it unbelieveable. Like I posted on another post, my hair is getting out of control. I might put a relaxer back in it at the end of the year. I think it has something to do with taking a good multi. hmmm, I wonder...

I'm going through the same thing, except my hair is not relaxed.

I think it may be growing too slow. Or probably I'm just a little impatient. Maybe the thickness makes it appear shorter or something. Also, I've changed from Vital life hair vitamins to Country Life Maxi Hair. Also I do a lot of hot oil treatments with olive oil.

I don't use vitamins to get my hair thick. My hair is thick already. But I use this oil/grease, that grows my hair thick.
