I have had about 4 or 5 ppl ask me if Ive colored my hair. Its very dark for some reason; my hair was never dark before!! I dont use henna or rinses or nething like that.

Ne ideas why this could be happening?

I guess because it's healthier now? That's the only thing I can think of. My hair looks darker now too since I've gone natural.

Have you switched from a no-lye to a lye relaxer? Or have you been using amla powder or shikakai powder? Both of these gave me darker hair.

I agree. My hair has gotten darker.

Actually is is darker when it is well moisturized, too. I notice that it is lighter when it is dry.

Also, my hair was looking lighter and even brassy looking before I found out that I have hard water. Now that I use the proper treatments for that, my hair is darker and healthy.

YEP, just did a lye relaxer after doing nolye for years!! Thats probably what did it. I actually kinda like it darker. It looks velvety. :yep:

Thanks for the responses!

That's true too. My mother has dye in her hair and it looks lighter when her hair is dry and darker when it's greased. It doesn't even look like the same color.

HD - I believe that I have hard water. Im not 100% sure but its a hunch I have, basically becuz since I moved out my hair/skin has suffered. Im gonna buy a shower filter this weekend so hopefully that will help. Im still in search of the perfect hair moisturizer as well.

My hair was so light before, I would actually tint my brows to try and match it cuz I looked crazy w/ jet black brows and brown hair. Now theyre about the same color (except for my ends w/ still have a bit of dye on them).

Some people's hair darken with age. My aunt's hair was naturally afire engine red when she was younger. It started getting darker in her 20's. She is almost 40 and its now a dark brown.

Jaiku - Yah my little cousin was a flaming red-head for the first few years of her life. Shes 7 now and her hair is "calming" down to a brownish color, tho you can still see some parts of the red. Funny how that happens... :)

CD - I believe the same thing - healthy hair LOOKS healthy in every aspect. Im not all the way there but Im trying. :yep: Thanks!!

I agree with it being healthier, my hair is waaaaaaaaay darker than it use to be and I noticed this b4 I started using rinses. My hair also has MEGA BLING! also even when airdried with NO product added. That's why I'm addicted to DCing.
