Hey since childhood, me neither. We'll see how long it gets now
Mine had never got past my ears and now its collar bone length in places.

I never had hair past SL and now I'm close to APL. I think it's really a matter of paying attention to how you take care of your hair. A the best of times, I'd moisturize and seal, but I was doing a whole lot of things that would limit my retention...primarily the way that I detangle my hair.
I think that it's possible. Just have some patience and stick with it.
