My Hair Broke

I dont know why. I wear my hair in a bun on a daily basis, 7 days a week. Well, yesterday I did my weekly wash and conditioner plus a hennalucent treatment. I then let my hair air dry for a while then set under the dryer to hurry the process along. I hardly ever use direct heat but decided to flat iron my hair. My hair on the right and left side is the samee length as always but the very middle of my head at the back is all short and broke off. Its much shorter than the right and left side.

What could have caused this? My hair is overprocessed, but because of the mess I made back in July, August, and September I'm trying to get my hair in better shape before I do another touchup which I really need. Please help, tell me what to do. Could this have been caused by the buns? Help.

Maybe it is the part when you place your bun. I noticed that IF I wear my hair back I have to change up where I place the band or clip. If I don't I will have breakage at that point. Do you change up where your bun is located?

do you bun ur hair while wet? if so, that causes breakage (first hand experience here /images/graemlins/smile.gif ). also, like kaddy said, alternate positioning of your bun daily or every other day; make sure it's not too tight; and most importantly do NOT sleep with ur hair in a bun.

I always get breakage when I regularly pull my hair back or wear barettes & hair combs.

Definitely, make sure it's not tight. I don't switch up my bun location often BUT it's not tight at all..actually it's practically falling off (just doesn't look like it) and I do sleep with it but since I do not sleep on my back I find it's ok. I could see how it could cause a lot of stress if you slept on your back. Also make sure relaxer residue is not being left there when you get a touch up.

It could be caused by the bun (i.e. too tight, type of rubberband, position, etc). I've yet to do a bun challenge because of this simple fact...I'm afraid of pulling my hair back and it breaking off.
