Poohbear's post and my previous frustrations w/my hair got me wanting to get better at straightening. I want to start doing this once a month so I won't get bored with my hair and I can practice perfecting a new look. I want to get to a point where I have NO frizz. If there are any suggestions-let me know. I have to find out a way to make this last for 2 weeks (even w/workouts):look:

it looks pretty good!!

i also want to perfect flat ironing my natural hair

except, i'll probably only do it every few months (next time i'll use a flat iron will be in march)

how did you achieve your results? what products? what methods? and what flat iron are you currently using?

i'd love to know how you're working (so far)!

GIRL!!! Your a natural 4a/b and you did that?!? I truly commend. Don't feel bad. You hair looks beautiful! :yep:

Your hair looks really pretty!

What products did you use? My hair is relaxed, but moisturizer and serum may help control the frizz. I use a little bit of ORS Olive oil with a dime size amount of Fantasia IC Straightening serum or Fantasia IC Olive oil serum. It really helps my hair stay straight and frizz-free.

Your hair looks REALLY good!!!!!! it looks straight and full!!!

Thanks ladies-

cici- I used the fantasia IC serum (the red one) before flat ironing. So I dunno-

runrunner- I used the solia 1'' iron

Before I blow dried I did use some Activate straightening lotion which I never tried before. Other than that-nothing else.

I applied the Activate straightening lotion, then I blow dried (using pinkskates method of pulling instead of using a comb attachment). Then I applied the serum and flat ironed small pieces. I'm gonna have to try different methods and products to see if I get different results next time.

You did a fabulous job! Your hair looks beautiful!

have you tried using a maxi glide flat iron. This is the only thing that gives me smooth sleek straight results. its the only thing outside of a relaxer that will straighten my hair and not e all puffy.

what i normally do is wash , then let completely air dry, (I try not to use too many products at this point cause it makes it harder to straighten with out buildup) this usually takes about a day. Then i section my hair in about six section and use the maxiglide. i seal each secion with serum and wrap my hair for a couple of hours and when I take the wrap out its nice and smooth

I like it just like that. Maybe if you do a loose up do with it, it may last a little longer.

Your hair came out really nice. It looks like it has a ton of body.

I'd be totally pleased if my hair came out like that:yep: It looks great.

I have nothing to offer as I'm trying to learn how to straighten my hair.

You did a GREAT job at straightening your natural hair!!! I wish my ends could have turned out like yours!!! Even after rolling my ends with rollers each night, I would still have frizzy ends. So I washed it out last night and will try straightening again later on. I'm thinking I probably need a different tool for straightening my hair (an electric pressing comb instead of a flat-iron).
