My First Post After 3 Long Years of Lurking

Hi Everyone!

Yes it's true. I have been lurking on LHCF since early 2005. I never wanted to post b/c I didn't have a digital camera and well...I was a little nervous. :blush3: Now I finally have a cam and I just couldn't wait to say hi to all my sisters. Even though you don't know me (yet) I feel like I know all of you. In fact, I have even secretly joined in alot of the challenges, bandwagons, and am a recovering pj. lol

My Hairstory...condensed version
When I found LHCF my hair was in shambles to say the least. Dry, heat damaged, and basically a hot mess. I would get so frustrated when it came time to do my hair that no one would dare talk to me while I tamed the beast b/c I would take out my frustrations on them. :whip: Sad right? Anywho, I did a internet search and the rest is history. I went from nl/sl damaged and relaxed to healthy sl relaxed. Then I transitioned to healthy natural hair with a few stylist induced setbacks mixed in.

I've basically have my regimine down now. I have been practicing Ayurveda since Christmas. (My christmas wishlist was only hair products ) I absolutely love it! I have seen such a dramatic improvement since then. I don't really use shampoo, I try to use mainy natural prodcuts, and I co wash a few times a week. I st8ten when I feel like it.

Myfamily thought I was crazy when I first started out saying that I was obsessed. Now they are asking me for advice:lachen:

Sorry for the long post I guess it's hard to catch up on three years in just one thread. I am going to attempt to post some pics now. If it dosen't work I have a fotki...which I started last night :ohwell: http://public.fotki.com/strawbearysweet/fall-2008/

Welcome, Strawbearysweet!!!

Your hair is absolutely beautiful!!! I have been wanting to try Aryveda's too, but haven't yet. After seeing your hair though, I think that's what I'm going to start doing beginning in January.

It's nice that you will be posting now.....

See you around the forum!

Blessings....N&W

Hi LilBrownied and Kinchen thanks for coming to say hi :)

Anytime nice&wavy.

Question...how can I tell who posts in this thread without going back to the thread page? Sorry if that sounds dumb.

On the forum page, next to the thread you wrote, you will only see the last person who posted...other than that, I think...you have to look into your thread.

Welcome, even though you've been around longer than I have. And congrats on your progress.

FYI, you can view those who have responded by clicking on the number of replies link.

So on the main page you see your post, then the time and the name of the last person who replied, the number of replies, and the number of views

:welcome: Your hair looks great!! Will your share your regime and let us know what products you are currently using? Thanks

Stawbearysweet,

Welcome. Your hair is very pretty. I use henna occasionally and ayurvedic himgange oil. I also add neem powder, tulsi powder, aritha and shikakai powder to my henna mixes along with acv, hot water and glycerine or honey. Works for me.

Awww! You ladies sure know how to make a gurl feel welcome. It's kind of weird being the one being asked for advice but I am definately here to help.

My Reggie:(I'll be adding to my fotki later today too)

Co Wash/rewet: 2-5 x's
with suave strawberries and cream, Tresseme, Mane and Tail
(or w/ any condiotioner that I haven't run out of)

Pre-poo: 1-2 x's
Indian Oils/Castor or just Conditioner

Ayurvedic Wash (paste) 1-2 x's
Love Shikakai, Neem, and Tulsi
*rarely use shampoo.

Clarify: Baking Soda and Water when I feel the need

Deep Condition 1-2 x's or at least twice a month

After washing or co washing I just moisturize with shea butter/ORS moisterizer/cantu shea butter leave in, and seal with caster oil.

If I don't have time to wet in the shower, I mist with my water, glycerin, and rosemary eo mix. I am still looking for something to keep my curl defined throughout the day as it dries. I may have to pay for the Miss Jessie's or that mixed chicks stuff to see if that works.

I straighten when I feel like it. Maybe once or twice a month. The pressing comb coupled with the flat iron or marcels give me the best results. I do plan on investing in a Sedu some time soon.

I have yet to try henna b/c I don't want to color but I would like to try it without the color release...however you do that. lol
Hemgange oil hugh? I don't think I have heard about that. I will do a google search to find out more. What have been some of the benefits? I use amla, neem, mahabingarj (sp), vatiqa, castor oil, molasses, and cayenne pepper in my prepoo mix. Funky but effective. :)

Even though I risk sounding :spinning: I have to say it. DSylla I  your hair soooo much. I faithfully have stalked your fotki just wishing I could will some of your hair wonderfulness over to me. I saw your thread from the other day. Congrats on your amazing progress!!!

Hi Strawbearysweet, Welcome aboard! I am also from Chi town but now live for the time being here in sorry Rockford. I also think the Indian products are wonderful, I've tried the Hesh Amla herbal hair oil and it's wonderful. I am going to be getting more of their products. Actually, the indian products along with the dominican products are the best I've used compared to other commercial products I've purchased. And will eventually just use them. Again thanks for joining. It's fun here and very helpful site for us sista's
