OMG, ladies, today I was doing my hair and thought it looked so...um...boring. So, I first thought I'd try some new styles, however, I opted against that idea because to do so might mean damaging my hair, soemthing I'm not willing to do. So, I thought, "some color!" However, my experiences with coloring or highlighting my hair in the past was usually a bit concerning in that I would experience some breakage or my hair would become dry. So, that idea was out...or was it. As I was putting on my "face" (that's what I call my makeup), I came across this skin bronzer I got at a thirft store at the start of the summer. It was a golden bronze and I wondered if it would give some sheen to my hair. Well, as I put it on as if highlighting my hair I liked the color. However, I didn't like the "phony looking" lines of color it made, so I thought I'd comb it to make it look more like real highlights. And low and behold...EUREKA!...that did it. My hair looks so nice and the great thing about it, no damage will result. I took some pics and put them in my hair album. Check them out. The bronzer only cost barely over $1, but there's enough there for me to do this type of mock highlighting again and again. Now, I'll have to go back to the store and get a couple other colors...they had the golden type that I have, one that was a bit more "orange" and bronzy, then one was even lighter gold than mine, and the last one was truly a brownish bronze. I'm going to try them all...and I'll be sure to take pics when I do and let you know.

Well, I thought I'd share this with all of you because you have shared so many wonderful ideas with me. If any of your are like me and fear hair breakage if you highlight, this might be a temporary solution. Good luck!

very pretty, cybra...good idea too.. they go very well with your hair color and complexion.. and your hair looks very healthy!!!!!!

Cool, I wouldn't think it'd show up on dark hair. I've heard of using lipstick for highlights too, and that works okay too, can get messy though.

Those look nice! Now, what exactly are "mock highlights?"

Oops, I went back and read the original post fully. No need to answer.

Thanks ladies...btw, I hadn't heard of using lipstick, but I guess that would work too. It was so funny because when my hubby got in from work, he stood with his mouth open and he LOVED it! I had to laugh because he though I had gone to the hairdressers to get it done...funny...men, like I would pay someone to put bronzer in my hair....pah-leez...

Yes, I even went out in the rain and it's still holding up. This is one of the greatest ideas I've had in a while....I feel soooo smart now :)
