My Daddy and My Hair: My Motivation...lol

First of all, let me say I am a HUGE daddy's girl and I love him to pieces...

So, I am transitioning. I was natural until I went to college and stayed that way for 5 years. My Dad refused to allow me to get a relaxer early on and only allowed it for my college years for fear of not finding a decent hairdresser to press my hair and me looking unkept...lol

I have gotten frustrated with my hair throughout the transition and my Daddy has sure helped keep me in for the long haul...:drunk:

I thought I wanted to BC a while back and I called him, as I do about 4 times everyday, and he told me, "Do it and find out how grown you're not." (I was independent then, but I figured I didn't want to know how grown i wasn't...:lachen:)

Today, I told him not to worry about me cutting anytime soon b/c I will be getting kinky twist...so he doesn't have to kill me. He told me, "Do it if you want to I will cut you out the will!!!You know I am crazy and I make no apologies for it. Your Daddy's a little touched in the head..."

Side stories: He told me if I arched my eyebrows he would stop paying tuition. When he was in Cuba, I did it...luckily my college bills were covered by then! (His mom shaved hers and they never grew back...)

My SO has helped keep me on task. Mainly he is just encourages me, but he has 2 golden techniques: 1) He threatens to cut his locs 2) threatens to tell my Daddy....

So...I'm in it for the long haul...no less than a 2 year transition...and long hair for LIFE!

ETA: I promise it is all in love and humor...it's not one of those oppressive relatonships like the lady's whose husband's threatens divorce over hair...he chuckled when he said all of this...it's okay...smile!

Anybody have any "motivators" in their lives? Please share...

ummm....probably, but who wants to find out! no really, he'd probably get upset...and EVENTUALLY get over it, but lucky for me...i want a long transition and long hair....

Ok I think I'm just confused...

Is he making these threats because he's being supportive (he knows you want to have a long transition)?

Or is he doing it because he actually doesn't want you to wear your natural hair?

He is supportive of a long transition and prefers long hair. We just happen to both have the same goals... He doesn't like for me to relax.

This was the same situation I had with my darling husbandssssssssssssssssssssssss (who sits next to me right now and just typed all those s's for no reason - lol)

He supported my decision to go natural and was a big help throughout. his only request was thAT I Grow it out rather than chop it off.

I transitioned for exactly 2 years. I'm 100% natural now and I couldn't have done it without him.:yep:

This is encouraging me, too. I am getting used to having hair long enough to bun. I always seem to BC to very short hair. I have to figure out a way to stay away from the scissors. LOL!

That is cute!! I wish my dad stayed on me about my hair. He influences everything else. My mom and sister are a HUGE support system when it comes to my hair. They ALWAYS talk me out of cutting it (although I cut it) I am now NL. My husband is my driving force...when he met me my hair was extremely long and relaxed. I let it go over they years so he has seen the ups and downs. Til this day he still wants me to grow my hair long like Rapunzel. SO this is why I am wearing this ugly bun everyday and I can't wait to reveal something in December and see his face light up like our Xmas tree!

My other half is my one an only supporter. He encourages me to grow it. He still thinks I should transition. Encourages the 6 to 8 months stretches and the products, the pibbs. That fool tried the pibbs before I did:lachen: He does 90% of my pics.

He started to DC his short hair and that taught me that DC makes a bigs difference. Once he started to DC it his texture changed. His Aunt who raised him asked him if he got a texturizer cause all his life he had dry 4Z hair.

You and your Dad relationship sounds sweet..My father , Husband could careless if I went natural ...I wouldn't hear any complaints unless I did a bc ....Neither one of them would have it...hahahahahha

This is soooo sweet. He sounds like he has a great sense of humor...reminds me of how DD and DH interact. DH wants me with long hair and natural - nice because that's what I want as well.

I don't even think my dad knows I have hair. :perplexed:wallbash:

You are blessed to have a father so involved in your being the most beautiful person you can possibly be so your "outside" mirrors who you are inside.

Sweet!
