My breakage needs a trim!

My hair generally is very healthy and the length is completely free of split ends. It seems to be growing in nicely especially since my major CUT back in December. Now, I have another issue to deal with. My breakage pieces have little splits. I knew this was inevitable since the hair did "break" which would mean that it wasn't evenly cut across the strand. I took a peak at a chunk of broken hair in the mirror and I can see the tiny little splits. How do I take care of them? Would it be ok to buy a good pair of scissors and trim them myself? I think this is what I am going to do but I guess I need to know if this is a good idea or if anyone else has done this before?

I know that if I don't take care of the splits, it will only get worse and prevent that hair from ever catching up. I like long, EVEN hair with no scraggly/frizzy pieces sticking up. This is what I deal with now and I'd like to not have this problem in the future! Any opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated!

I trim the section of my hair that broke off.

Go ahead and trim it. I trimmed mine today as soon as I discovered that whole back section (that I mentioned on my protective styles thread).

I think it would be fine if you trimmed it yourself. Make sure you buy a pair of hair trimming scissors, and use them only for your hair.

Allandra,

I'm just now seeing this! Yes, I bought a pair of trimming scissors from Ulta and I will only use them for my hair!
