Most of you already know that i got two-strand twists this past friday (the 17th) and three of them have already come loose! The first one came out yesterday while i was at work (it was kind of embarrassing b/c the extentions were on the floor and my manager was like "umm kristen..."). And I washed my hair this morning and two more came out. I love washing my hair... I hate the feeling of a dirty scalp... I shampoo and condition twice a week... does this mean i need to hold back on washing? ...I never had this problem with micros, although i washed them once a week.

what should i do to prevent my braids from coming loose?

Do I need to pay extra attention to my hair that is no longer in twists?

...And I have a random question about fotki: i recently made a photo album with a password... and i forgot my password!! where do i go on my account to find it?? Thanks

I have twists too and after a while some do get loose and may come out. But you just got yours done Friday, so it's kinda soon for them to be coming out. You can always go back to where you had them done and get them to replace them. I'm not a great braider, but I can usually put a few back in if they come out. Can you put them back in yourself? And I would say yes, take really good care of the hair that's not in twists anymore. You don't want it to break off.

Thanks for the advice.

How often do you wash your hair? or do you just use seabreeze on your scalp?

When I had my hair in twists with extensions, I waited about a week before I washed my hair. I never had a problem with them falling out or coming loose, even though I shampooed regularly for the six weeks I kept them in. Were they silky twists by chance? Either way, they should not be coming loose this early in the game. You might want to contact whomever put them in and have them rectify the problem at no further cost to you. ;)

If you are using any oils on your scalp that can loosening your braids. That was my experience.

With my twists with extentions I experienced the edges coming out but not that soon.....
They were braided twice & then twisted & they stayed in pretty well.... The edges slipped out because I put my hair up to dry when I wet them. They only slipped out when I wet tem... Maybe you should hold off on wetting them for a little while past 2 weeks or more....

Try Surge Baid Deordorizer or ORS Latherless Shampoo. The ORS LS helped me to keep from wetting my twists & risking more slipping out....

Kristen,

I love to wash my hair too, but when I'm in braids I only wash once a week (i.e. shampoo). When I wash, I use Den1's method of covering my hair with a stocking cap to avoid manipulating my style at the scalp.

Sometimes I rinse (after an intense work out). I don't use the stocking cap because I don't manipulate my scalp. I run water through my hair, concentrating more effort on cleansing length of the extension.

I will use the Braid Deorderizer that Ashee mention's when it comes to my location.

HTH.

Are you conditioning your braids also? cause that could be it, conditioner soften your hair and add slip, so your braids will slacken up and come undone, or it could be that it wasn't braided well in the first place. I had braids slip out my hair a few hours after doing it cause it wasn't done properly and because it was the human type hair.

I wash my hair once a week and sometimes I rinse it between washings. I try not to manipulate my twists too much when I wash them. I pretty much just run soapy (shampoo-y) water through them. Also, I've learned not to put them up or in a pony tail while they dry. I basically try not to move them around while they're wet 'cause they will start slipping.
