My Big Fat Nigerian Wedding (finally Lol)

Omg!!! Congrats to you and your husband! You both looked amazing!! You looked so beautiful in your wedding dress as well as your traditional wear! That food looks like it was everything in life! Thank you so much for sharing with us. It looks like you all had a blast!! :toocool::2inlove::D

Thank you. I ate salad, moin moin and meat. Over the course of this trip I lost 8lbs, even though I couldn't work out because it was TOO DAMN HOT

I've started eating rice again, but I'm about to swear off it in January because there's a weightloss challenge with a first prize of $500! Rice can wait please!
Beaurifullll!!! I always lose at least 10kbs when I go to naija although I never work out while I'm there and I eat everything in site

Congratulations! Igbo Kwenu! what lovely photos & you make a gorgeous couple. Where is a pic of you offering palm wine to hubby? Or am I mixing up the cultures?

you are a beautiful bride. The wedding looks very lovely. Your outfits and make up were nice.
I reside in Ibadan, I would have gate crashed too.

You look lovely, @isioma85 ! I was just thinking how pretty you look in your avi and then I saw this thread. :)

I wish you and your husband every happiness and a wonderful life together!

I know. I was looking for that pic also

No, you guys are not mixing up the cultures. I am Delta-Igbo, so I am from Agbor which is in the Ika part of Delta State. Because we are west of the Niger, a lot of our customs are slightly different than the standard Igbo ones. Most Delta Igbos don't do the palm wine carrying at traditional weddings, we do the changing from the akwa-ocha (white patterned wrapper) that you wear before the bride price is accepted, and then you can change into any color of wrapper and blouse after that. (If you notice, I was wearing peach and white at first, then changed to the gold and green). Akwa Ocha is distinctive to Ika and Anioma people of Delta State in Nigeria.

While my husband's Nigerian family is Igbo (Anambra State), in Nigeria you follow the customs and demands of the girl's family.
