My appt w/ Tonyce.... the lowdown....

There is the rundown:

I arrived early and waited for her to finish her client. She is such a nice person! She is very open and pleasant and what I liked is that before she made a step she would ask questions like:

1. Are there parts of your head that burn easily?
2. Do you set your hair in roller or do you blow it out?
3. When was your last trim, last touch up?

She asked me what relaxer I used and I said the last relaxer was Mizani.... she uses Mizani and Affirm. She is a real lye relaxer advocate. I am still growing out a no lye relaxer and she showed me how the no lye stripped my hair of the body.

She said Moisturefuse might be too heavy for my hair so she used Mizani Fulfyll instead.

She rinsed my hair and neutralized it. She said applying conditioner before neutralizing would make my hair flat.

She then applied the Fulfyll and wrapped a moist towel and plastic bag then sat under the dryer for a good 30 minutes. I was then rinsed and trimmed then set in rollers.

She then undid the rollers, asked me again what I wanted then wrapped my hair, put me under the dryer for 15 minutes touched me up with a curling iron and go!

My hair was full of body, and shine.

She recced Mizani Botanifying conditioning shampoo and Fulfyl conditioner.

What I like about Tonyce is that you can kinda work with her and let her know what works for you and what doesn't. She is up on the latest techniques etc.

The bottomline is this. If I want a fab haircut I go to Marvin --- for relaxers, Tonyce will be my stylist from now on.

Wow. Tonyce sounds like a wonderful hair 'care' stylist.

I'm glad you had a great hair salon experience.

Sounds likes great stylist! Where is she located? How much did it cost for the process? Does she base properly? I'll probably start looking for another stylist because Salon Cecelia is too expensive me right now even though I loved the service.

She charge $75 for the touch up and the trim.
She is located in the JC Penney Salon in the Queens Ctr. Mall. I forgot to mention that she did base the scalp. Just like Marvin did -- same technique.

Vev, did she put the plastic bag OVER the moist towel? I'm asking because I want to try this method - it's probably the closest I will get to my own at home 'steam' treatment.

Thank you SOOOO much for sharing this Vev. I don't know when my next touchup will be but I hope I will be able to go to her soon. Maybe the touchup after this one. I need to go to Marvin again with my contacts on so that I can make a true comparison if I decide to go. The one thing that I know that I liked about Marvin was that almost as soon as the relaxer was in, it was out.

Thanks again!!!

V, I've also made the switch to JC Penny's salon here in Jersey. I love the professional atmosphere and that my stylist used only the Mizani line on my hair.

Congratulations on the switch! Isn't life good when you find a good salon?

Hi Serena,

Yes, she did put the plastic bag over the towel. I felt so pampered...

Daviine, you are right w/ Marvin the relaxer was quick.

Yes, Rob I am so happy to find someone that I connect with on my hair!
