My Aphogee Experience.

First I would like to state that I do not endorse or encourage the use of any hair care product. I would just like to share my experience. I say this because I am dealing with hair regrowth due to cancer, and super sensitive
scalp and skin. I have to double skin test anything I intend to use on my hair or my skin. Including natural products.

That said...................

In my regrowth journey I literally have a baseball sized ball of hair when I take out my twists (every 2 weeks) to wash my hair . Plus the knots and the double knots, splits and knots with loops that look like a flower's petals. I thought all this was normal for me. Oh, I forgot the crunchy ends.

So I wanted to try Aphogee. But the 2 step one frightened me as my hair is also thin and fine. So I tried the 2 min reconstructor and during detangling I only lost a couple of hairs. And during taking out my twists 2 weeks later I lost the amount of hair that could fit on a nickel. A nickel! Knots and splits are greatly reduced. And my thin fine hair feels stronger. It feels like hair.

I am not really sure what a reconstructor is, but it seems to help. And using it twice a month seems so far to be enough. Plus I no longer need a detangler, my shampoo comb just glides thru my hair.

Your comments and suggestions are welcome. Please chime in.

A reconstructor is just a lighter form of protein. In our hair journeys, we tend to shy away from protein but our hair tends to need protein to help reduce breakage and retain moisture. I'm glad you find something works for your hair and for beating cancer!

I've never used the 2-step either. The reconstructor has always stopped breakage for me, so I never found it necessary to resort to something stronger. Love, love, love the aphogee reconstructor. It makes an immediate difference - using it when I wash tomorrow.

I'm so happy you found a solution to your hair problems! Over time, you might be able so slowly reduce your use of the reconstructor as your hair strands become stronger. When you first start out incorporating protein on weakened hair, you have to start off strong (like 2x a month as you are doing) and once your hair improves, you'll be able to reduce to maybe 1x a month or every 3 weeks for maintenance.

@fletgee you BEAT cancer. Congrats for busting its ass.

I've used the reconstructor recently but my breakage was as I believe a little worst than yours so I used the 2 step and it stopped it right in its tracks. I'll be using my reconstructor this week when I wash because I cannot afford to experience another bout of breakage like that.

The 2-step intimidates me even though I should use it as I have bleached parts of my hair. I use the 2 minute with no worries. I also use the neutral protein filler and the Aphogee green tea to keep my protein/moisture balance in check. That coupled with oil rinses, henna treatments, and deep conditioning is helping my strains thrive and thicken up.

I think Ateeya USED to use an aphogee regimen way back in the day before she got money and started gluing wigs on top of sew ins. Her hair seemed to be doing really well back then

ETA so sorry about your diagnosis

Hi dear.

I hope all is going well.

It's always good to 'see' you.

I am so glad you did a review on this product. I had been wanting to try it for a long while. I stopped by Sally Beauty Supply on Sunday to purchase the 16 ounce bottle of this. I used it this morning for my deep conditioning (without heat). After one use, I'm loving this product. I will definitely be keeping it in rotation. Thx so much for posting this review. It was the push I needed to finally purchase it.

Hi Allandra,

Thanks for chiming in.

Always a pleasure to "see" you, too.

Hi lady... I missed you.
I actually just started using my old products again. I went into my stash and got out the Dudley's DRC and it was just what my hair needed. I have hair loss from Thyroid Disease and needed to try to get my hair on a regimen again to preserve what I can. :(
anyway, Aphogee products are awesome. I love the two step, but, I prefer the DRC. it's a paradox, hard, with a gentle touch. :) The Aphogee 2 minute is amazing as well. it is great for when you don't need such a kick.

Big hugs and congrats on Kicking butt :)

I use it once a month. Usage depends on the condition of my hair. I have not used it in 6 weeks because my excessive breakage is nil and my hair feels strong. Be guided by your hair's need.

Purchased the Provitamin B Leave-In to change things up a bit from my regular L-I.

I hope I like it for this use.

I have this product, but was using it as a Refresher on dry hair.

This time, I will try it on wet/damp hair under the dryer.

Great Post. :goodpost: Bolded says it all.

I bought the 2 Step a while back and haven't used it yet.

My hardest protein since I became a DIY'er has been Nexxus Emergencee.

I have had the 2 Step Treatment performed numerous times when I was a Salon go-er.

Will be interesting to see how the 2 Step works for me at home.

I will keep your advice (@ bolded) in mind.:hug2:
