I'm wondering would MTG be a better alternative to Megatek? Hmmm
I've been wondering about MT. I've also wondered about MN, also. What kind of results do you see with MT. It's available at Sally's, correct?
Here are my 'cautions' for MTG:
1.
The smell: MTG alone STANKS. I cut it with EVOO and pepermint. It still smells, but not as bad. I think that it would be better if I used more EVOO and peppermint. I also find that it 'airs out' a little bit if you keep a small amount in a color applicator bottle. I don't think that it diminishes the effectiveness.
2.
The oiliness: I've said it before-this mess runs like drippy jehri curl juice. It has the tendancy to spread so a little bit goes a LOOOOONG way. If you douse this mess on it will be all over.
3.
Itchiness: I think that the itch is a sign that it is working, but there are times that it can get annoying. I combat the itchiness by spritzing my scalp with a H2O/peppermint spray. I will also put my hair under a processing cap so that a little bit of moisture collects on my scalp.
4.
Skin scaliness: I experienced this ONCE when I used it for a very short time back in 2005. Basically it was due to over application. I put too much on and it ran behind my ears and on my neck. it pretty much ended up just sitting there, and it caused my skin to become rough. It went away after I discontinued use. You won't have this problem if you don't overapply and if you don't apply straight MTG.
Also, since my hair is so thick, I find that the best way to wash it out and get rid of the smell is to make a baking soda/clarifying shampoo/ACV paste. This is achieved by mixing baking soda and the shampoo together in a plastic cup (enough to make it somewhat pasty) and then applying enough ACV to cause fizz. Stir and apply. This makes a rich lather that penetrates the thicness of the hair to the scalp and has decent slip.
