MTG Support Thread

Baby Chick Gate 2011
I haven't seen a thread for MTG support, so I thought that I would start one. :look:

This thread is a place for those of us who use MTG to post our results and to give advice about MTG. This is also for anyone who is wanting info and who is considering taking the plunge.

HHG w/ MTG

Hiiii JCSavetheday i looooove MTG my hair is marinating in it as we speak. what i did was i rubed the mtg throughout my scalp and massaged vigourously my scalp and put it into a ponytail and tied the end as well then put grease on the ends massage the scalp again then covered everything with my plastic cap and a scarf and voilaaaaaaaaaaaa scarf lady hehe

I put my hair under a showercap every night. Sometimes for a couple of hours during the day.

How much growth have you gotten with MTG?

Have you started getting wiry hairs?

I use to use MTG, I had no problems, just started using other things.....but I support you ladies, I might go back later, during the fall.........

I'm wondering would MTG be a better alternative to Megatek? Hmmm

I've been wondering about MT. I've also wondered about MN, also. What kind of results do you see with MT. It's available at Sally's, correct?

Here are my 'cautions' for MTG:

1. The smell: MTG alone STANKS. I cut it with EVOO and pepermint. It still smells, but not as bad. I think that it would be better if I used more EVOO and peppermint. I also find that it 'airs out' a little bit if you keep a small amount in a color applicator bottle. I don't think that it diminishes the effectiveness.

2. The oiliness: I've said it before-this mess runs like drippy jehri curl juice. It has the tendancy to spread so a little bit goes a LOOOOONG way. If you douse this mess on it will be all over.

3. Itchiness: I think that the itch is a sign that it is working, but there are times that it can get annoying. I combat the itchiness by spritzing my scalp with a H2O/peppermint spray. I will also put my hair under a processing cap so that a little bit of moisture collects on my scalp.

4. Skin scaliness: I experienced this ONCE when I used it for a very short time back in 2005. Basically it was due to over application. I put too much on and it ran behind my ears and on my neck. it pretty much ended up just sitting there, and it caused my skin to become rough. It went away after I discontinued use. You won't have this problem if you don't overapply and if you don't apply straight MTG.

Also, since my hair is so thick, I find that the best way to wash it out and get rid of the smell is to make a baking soda/clarifying shampoo/ACV paste. This is achieved by mixing baking soda and the shampoo together in a plastic cup (enough to make it somewhat pasty) and then applying enough ACV to cause fizz. Stir and apply. This makes a rich lather that penetrates the thicness of the hair to the scalp and has decent slip.

I just ordered more MTG last week and have been using it faithfully each and every night. Last year I got an amazing growth spurt, but I wasn’t sure if it was from BeeMine or MTG:ohwell:. At the moment, I use MTG at night on my scalp and hairline and during the day I use BeeMine. This works good for me because I cowash daily except for the weekends.

Subscribing. I'm waiting on my bottle now. I think I've read through about 20 search pages of numerous threads on the good, bad, and the ugly. I'm just still trying to decide to start my personal challenge on a fresh relaxer. I'm 14 weeks post right now.

I’ve been alternating between MTG and BM every night. I got my relaxer two weeks ago and I already have ng:blush:. So I’m no longer wearing my hair out. Back to protective styling with my lace fronts. I put only a little MTG on my scalp at night and BM during the day since the smell is a little more pleasant than MTG. So far so good.:yep:

YAAAYYYY.....I just got my bottle of MTG today.
I can't wait to wash my hair tonight and use it.
Has anyone used this along with Surge? I'm thinking about trying to pick up a bottle of that too.

I'm doing cornrows and mtg this summer. I poured off 3/4 of the oil and use the rest for my scalp. It caused dryness and tangling on wash day and I lost a lot of hair. I clarified with suave and my hair went back to being soft and the tangles slipped out. I will take a few days to douse my hair in my glycerine mix before starting back on mtg after washing and baggy with mtg ever night to keep hair moisturised under the oil.

Got my bottle yesterday and started using it. It stinks, but it's really not that bad. The smell was gone by morning. I even applied this morning just to test how it smells/feels on dry hair and it's not as bad as I was expecting. Every little while I get a whiff of it, but I applied my moisturizer to my hair after I applied MTG to my scalp and it helps alot. I'm not sensitive to smells so it doesn't really bother me.

I plan on using it for the next 7 weeks so I'll check in later.

Going back to basics. I just ordered my second bottle today. In the Winter time I use MN and the Summer I use MTG. Love it!

I started MTG on my daughter last summer and she got excellent results.I washed and cornrowed her hair weekly. I applied mtg to her hair nightly, put a plastic cap then a silk cover, (the baggy method) and the results were phenomenal! I am going to start her up again this summer. Thanks for this thread.

*ugh* I can't stand the way that oil makes my hair feel. I can deal with the smell, but the greasy, dry feeling had to go. I poured off as much oil as I could and replaced it with an oil mix I'd never used up and it feels MUCH better. I noticed the sulphur takes longer to settle so that makes me think a carrier oil like EVOO is best with this to make sure the sulphur stays on the scalp.

I have a bottle of the MT Deep Moisturizing conditioner in my closet- I will use these as my protein cowashes next week to see how my hair likes it.

I still have a big bottle of MTG that I bought last year as a newbie. I may start back on it but I had a hard time dealing with the smell last year. I may try mixing it with Coconut oil or EVOO to help kill the scent.

Past experience
I used MTG and I loved it! My hair grew out fast. This was 2 or 3 years ago. However, as much as I loved it, I got careless and lazy and stopped using it. :wallbash: Not this time. I'm serious about growing my hair out.

Today

I'm excited! I ordered the 32oz bottle a few days ago and it came today. I already applied my first application. I didn't use a whole lot because like other posters said, a little does go a long way. I plan on using it every single night. I paid $30 for this stuff and I'm gonna get every penny out of it.

The Smell
Applying a little bit all over the scalp at night has helped for the smell to clear up a bit by the morning. I sleep in a satin bonnet and place towels over my pillows so they will not reek of MTG. The smell is not bad at all to me but I still don't want my pillows smelling like it. I use Stay Soft Fro on my hair every morning. I know this will help mask the smell as well.

Working Out and MTG

I work out 5 days a week now so will continue to wash my hair every other day like I always do. I wear my hair in box braids or corn rows under a wig but when I work out I'm not trying to look cute. I take my wig and wig cap off and put on one of long silk scarfs you purchase at the beauty supply store. I don't want my wig soaking up sweat and MTG particles....

The Proof

The last time I used MTG all I had were words rants and raves. This time I have actual before pics. Even though I will be posting on my progress, I will update with pics in December. It will be 4 full months of me using MTG and that should be enough time for everyone else and I see how much growth I've achieved by then.

Good Luck to everyone! Stay positive! Stay Constant! (even if you fall off)

ooo i missed this thread. this seems as good a place as ever to post my 1st months results. i'm giving it 3 full month to decide whether it works for me.

its nothing to write home about but then again my front grows at a snail's pace. sorry for the pic quality. in the 1st pic the hair is touching the top of my lips and in the second it's touching the bottom of my lips. i tried to hold onto the same amount of hair both times.

I have been using MTG off and on for about a year. I apply it as follows:
On damp hair with a bottle with a tip and just poke over my head and massage (I don't part)
Keep towel around my neck as to help with drip.
Blow dry and I do not have the greasiness that I used to have and it does not run at all.

I do this 3x per week and it has helped me with growth. When it is not my wash day I use the same method with the bottle with the tip and massage into my scalp but I do my NTM before MTG and seal with MTG. I do not put alot of MTG on my hair just poke in my hair massage wrap and go to bed.

I have found I do not have the rash and my hair is healthy.

I use Keracare 1st lather then the hydrating shampoo as to help clean my hair and scalp and I use this 1x per week.

I have been using MTG for about a month now. I am suscibing to this thread. I plan on doing a mini personal challenge from October 14 through February 14 to see where I get.

I mix MTG with other "stuff"

Good luck everyone
