(Hope this hasnt been posted before......)

Hey guys...I just bought a bottle of MTG, used it once, and decided that I dont want to add this to my product arsenal. :ohwell: The smell is a bit too stank for me, no matter how little I use.

I also oredered Jamaican Black Castor Oil (havent received it yet). I thought I could use this in place of MTG. Just curious.....which do you all prefer? And which one have you seen the greatest results with?

Thanks!!:)

I use MTG and it great I've seen a lot of thickness with my hair. I have't tried Black Castor Oil. You know you can put some pepperment oil to change the smell of mtg. Good luck:)

I purchase a sample bottle of the MTG and no matter what I tried I could not hide the smell. I didn't stick with it long enough to see any results. I absolutely love the JBCO. I use it every 3/4 days on my scalp.

I also purchased BT to see if that would give me the growth and thickness I was looking for. That might be another alternative for you...

If the smell bothers u maybe next time make ur own version ..i do..with essential oils and sulfur powder..all u smell is the aromatic smell of the essential oils..

Cool. I just order my JBCO and Coconut Oils late last week, so they should be arriving soon. I think I'll stick with a mixture of these two.

I tried to mask the smell of MTG and no matter what I did, it didn't work. :( It sucks because I've heard so many good things about it. But I've heard equally as many good things about JBCO.

Thanks ladies. Wish me luck!:)

I really think it depends on what you are looking for. When you purchased the MTG were you looking for thickness or growth? For me there is no comparison like kinikakes says. I use both but I have acclerated growth and thickness with the mtg. I add rosemary essential oil and peppermint to my mtg. I say try it again and afterwhile I think you will get used it.

Yeah, I am looking for thickness and growth. I though JBCO provided these benies as well. No?

I haven't tried mixing MTG with the oils you mentioned. I was mixing it with Doo Grow hair oil (which I know I really need to get rid of). Maybe I'll try that.:perplexed

Thanks!

I now use my own concoction of JBCO, sulphur and any other oils that I may have lying around. But before that I had purchased MTG and for me the greasiness was worse than the smell. I didn't want to waste it so what I did was wait for the sulphur to settle to the bottom and then I poured out the cade oil that is responsible for the stink. I then added JBCO, olive oil and some peppermint eo to mask the smell. The JBCO is also thick, so my mixture wasn't as runny as the original.

I just ordered my JBCO and it should be arriving in the next couple of days.. I can't wait to try it.. then I can update on this thread about my review of the castor oil... I will not use MTG b/c of the smell that sisters keep talking about.;)

I just use regular castor oil, honestly ordering the JBCO was a waste of time and money since regular CO works just as well (IMHO). But I use Boundless Tresses, it works just like MTG but without the smell. And to me, the smell wasn't that bad in MTG I just by BT so that I can support a fellow LHCFer. :)

Interesting...I didn't realize this,

I've used both JBCO and MTG (BT and the stank) and I still do. There is nothing that gives the growth and thickness like MTG. JBCO does not aid in growth.......only thickness, so it depends on what you're looking for. If you don't like the smell of the Shapley's version, you should purchase Naturallady's Boundless Tresses. You'll also be supporting a sista on the board.

Thanks tatje...is there any particular reason why?:)

Although, I know it's not a growth aid, it has thicken up my hair tremendously. I also use it to seal and I use it as a hot oil treatment. It softens up my hair. I just love it.
