I've heard so many good things about msm, thinking about buying it, but are there any concerns ?

I see most say they get head aches...whats that all about ?

well my only side effect was my cycle was different. I had bad cramps for like 2 cycles and pardon my candor..the color was different:perplexed more bright:cool: . Now, my cramps are back to normal. Sorry, TMI and HTH.

Thanks ladies ! :) ;)

I'm on my way out...I called walmart and they said they dont have it...where did you get yours from ?

Girl, not TMI at all. This is the kind of stuff people want to know and are concerned about. Sometimes, you don't realize some side effects you've had until others mention things like this.

Thank goodness I never saw any side effects, but I bet yours was just a response to the new addition you made to your body and then everything normalized.

If i order online i get it from puritans pride, i usually catch the 2 for 1 sale. If not then i go to the vitamin shop and buy it from there.

I think they are having a good sale now. 70% off.

I read about the headaches, but I only experienced this once. Been on it for about 1 month now. I think the headache thing only comes into play if you dont drink enough water (at least 1.5-2 liters per day). I noticed that my period was a breeze this past month. I normally have REALLY bad pms, but that didnt happen this time around. Also, my cramps were nearly no existent. My skin cleared up a lot too.:D

I have breakouts on my forehead... nothing massive at all. A few small pimples. I don't take a seperate msm vitamin. It's included with my hair, skin and nails vit. When I tried Natrol's I had the worst moon EVER. I can't say that it was the MSM because I have fibromyalgia but I didn't have that problem until I took those. I ended up giving them away.

The vits I take now are fine. No major side effects. I've noticed a little more energy though. (yay!)

Hey, thicknlong,

I have been taking Hair Skin & Nail vits from Whole Food (the serving of 3 a day has appx 900 mg of MSM) for about 3 1/2 months, and added the Jarrow MSM (another 1,000 mg of MSM) about 1 month ago. When I first started taking them, I did get the headaches, but after about a month or so, they went away. They did not come back when I added the 1,000 mg.

I did notice I don't get as many of the premenstual symptoms that I used to get (sore breasts, a little cramping), but that could be due to all the other stuff I am taking (see my siggy). I do still get pre-period headaches, but I can deal with that! :)

HTH!

I was reading on another site that a few ladies experienced their breasts getting bigger. For some I don't think that's too bad of a side effect  , that seriously had me about to buy a bottle today but I fought the urge, I'm taking enough..for now.

BREAST GETTING BIGGER!!! U bought to make me a PJ fo sho now...LOL!!

Actually I've been contemplating MSM for about a month...I'm wondering about the headaches and blood thinning (I think that was MSM). Good to hear not everyone experiences the headaches.

I experienced headaches, but only the first week. (I've been on it two months now.) I sweat more at night and have those vivid dreams that have been described in other threads.

I take 3,000 mg/ day. I love the effects it's had on my skin--it's clearer and softer, it gave me more energy, and improved my allergies.

Are you serious? lol That alone is good enough for me! I hope I have the same experience. My allergies are sooooo bad. :(

Has anyone ever noticed a loss of appetite when taking MSM?

I was just talking to my co-worker about my loss of appetite every since I started taking vitamins....I'm not sure if it's MSM or one of the other ones causing the lack of appetite....but it's all good, I was trying to lose a few pounds anyway..

hahaha i know wut u mean. alil weight loss is definately welcome here! lol MSM is the only different vitamin that ive been taking. Besides that i only take multivit and will being taking biotin in another few weeks. So maybe it is the MSM!

My period stopped too. My skin has improved and so have the dark circles under my eyes. I want to stop taking it ,but my skin feels so soft.

MSM gave me stomach pains so I had to stop taking it. I only took it for a week and really wish I could have taken it for longer to see if there were any growth benefits. I just didn't want to take any chances that I may be permanently harming myself.

I'm having problems with MSM too. I just started taking MSM a week ago and I'm on the pill so I know exactly when I'm supposed to get my friend (next Wednesday) Tell me why it showed up today (Friday) 5 days early? I'll continue taking it, but if it continues this funny business next month, I might have to quit it. I'll talk to my OB-GYN and see what she says.

I'm so glad I opened this thread because I think I've figured out a few things regardng my use of MSM. I recommend doing a search on MSM because there are quite a few interesting threads on this topic.

As for my experience when I first started taking MSM it threw my cycle off like crazy for about two months. It would start without warning and there was no logic to when it would decide to start or stop. Realizing I was seeing other benefits I decided to give it another try after a two month hiatus. Those symtoms went away and now I no longer experience the pms I used to - nor do I experience the massive cramping I used to experience. Although I've been blessed with nice skin, I've noticed it has more of a glow and isn't as dry. So based on that I'm assuming my hair is reaping the benefits as well.

But the best side effect ever is pretty much the disappearance of my allergies! I've been trying to figure out why they haven't developed this spring and now I'm starting to think it's the MSM! I've tried allergy shots, all kinds of allergy pills to no avail. And for some reason my allergies just dedcided to disappear this year! I've suffered with allergies for at least 10 years. Wow, I love LHCF.

I'm taking 1500 mg per day. I take Member's Mark brand from Sam's club. 300 tablets for about $23.00. I've tried other brands but I believe these give me the best results. Although I have considered trying the powder.

Once side effect I had was that I was constantly thirsty and crazy dreams ( or that could be from the oil pulling I am doing) But what it does for the skin is amazing! My skin has never been this soft in my life and my hair is thriving off this stuff.

How long does it take to have noticeably soft skin? ive only been taking it for 2 weeks so i know thats not long enough to notice any hair changes because i hardly have any growth. But i dont really notice anything changing in my skin. Its always been dry and it just feels the same to me.

Ive heard that in taking msm most of it will be sucked into the area that needs the most help. and that would definately be my joints.Since ive been taking it i have no pain. I have alot more energy. Is this y im not reaping many other benefits? or should i just wait a while?

- My skin has always been soft but I noticed more hydrated skin after about a week. I don't have to keep slathering on skin cream.

- I have arthritis and this has helped to lubricate my joints. I still get some popping but it's not as painful and doesn't make as much noise.

- Also my new growth is so soft it's (pardon me for getting countried) don't make no sense!!!!!! I had my sister look to see how much growth I had and she told me 1/4 of an inch or more. I said yeah but FEEL it!!! She did and it's sooooooooooooooo soft and the coil pattern is much looser. (My new growth is tight and usually very dry.)

I love that about this stuff. If you can give it a little time and see what happens. The first time I tried it, it didn't work for me at all. This is the second time and so far I'm loving it!

yea. i guess ill see. I mean either way i definately am not gonna stop taking it. If for nothing else...its feels GOOOOD not to have aches everytime i move my body!
