It is lye (sodium hyroxide) and comes in a green jar? Has anybody used this? How was it? I saw it at a BBS today and it seemed interesting.

my roommate used this for her touch up recently and now she has a scab the size of a silver dollar piece in her head that is oozing.

I have never heard of this happening with this relaxer. And there are few ladies here that have used it. The only complaint I heard was underprocessing (I think). maybe she did something wrong.

I have used this realxer for over a year every 2 months ( my last realxer was in August). I love this relaxer.

The only reason that I am considering switching is b/c the new hair dresser I am thinking of going to does not have this in the shop. She is pretty famous around here "marcia". (just do a search she is really nice and claimed to be the best).
Anyway she is planning on using Affrim. But she is EXPENSIVE. Alot more than the Dominican slaon that I go to.

So if I decide not to go with Marcia I will be sticking to this relaxer (Salon Herbals) because I like it. But that is jsut my opinion. HTH

There are a few people on other boards that love this relaxer.

They have a neutralizing conditioner (not shampoo) to go with it and they love it.

I use this relaxer and I like it . I really lik ethe fact that it uses a neutralizing conditioner instead of shampoo. Less manipulaiton on the hair weakened from the chemical process. Th smell is pleasant and it does not irritate my scalp. I leave it on for about a total of 8 minutes and Im pleased.

This relaxer DEFINITELY caused underprocessing in my hair and a large burn on my hairline the size of a dime (got it in June, the scars are STILL visible:mad:   )

And I applied this relaxer same as any other... Followed directions, applied base, watched time, etc.

PLEASE do not let the "herbal" thing get you, like it did me. I regret making that purchase and am still having to do things to correct the problems. Now I have about 4-5 inches of underprocessed hair that I have to correct. And I am using skin bleachers to try and lighten the scars.

Just find something else, don't take that chance.

This is my relaxer of choice. I've used it many times and only got scalp burns when I didn't base my scalp first. Now I base really good with anything heavy, even vasoline, and I've had no problems. I use it with the neutralizing conditioner and it works well for me.

I agree with everything you said. The same happened to me.
I figured since I already use Motions Mild.....I'd give this a try.
OUCH!...too strong. Even though I never relax straight.....I couldn't leave this stuff on for a second.
I went back to my Motions Oil Moisturizer Mild

Do you still use it? If no, why did you stop?
