I know that during the cold winter months, its best to use more moisturizing conditioners to eliminate breakage? What about the hot summer months? Should we be using more protein? :look:

Not me...my hair doesn't need much protein so I only use it during the relaxer touchup process. I just make sure my hair is always moisturized, which usually means that I have to increase the moisture in the winter (as you mentioned). But basically, my regimen remains the same year-round.

To keep your hair balanced, I suggest that you only add protein as needed.

Thanks for the response. I just wanted to make sure that my hair stayed strong during the hot summer months, so I wasn't sure if more protein or moisture would be best.

I think that the rule of thumb is to pay attention to what your hair needs. Some ladies don't require as much protein as others. I am finding that my hair tends to do require protein more often than I had been giving it but that is because of my hair and not the season.
