Hello all! I'm new here (actually, I was a member back before this was a paying site, so I'm not totally new).

Anyhow, I've been natural since May 2001. I just cut my hair to a TWA (after locking for awhile) and plan to grow my hair out again.

The issue is that last time I went natural I was living in a different city with different water. The water here is harder and I've noticed that it's harder to keep my hair moisturized. I am a frequent cowasher (my hair MUST have water daily or I have issues). I've been using a little oil and Nexxus Humectress on my TWA after cowashes, which is okay, but not great.

Any suggestions?

1) Rinse with distilled water
2) Include a chelating shampoo as your 'normal' shampoo.
3) Filtered showerhead
4) Citric Acid rinses (it acts as a chelator, and it's less stripping than shampoo)

Good luck!

Hi and welcome back! Vitale makes a good chelating shampoo. They even include it in the sensitive scalp relaxer kit.

I'm natural so I won't be buying the relaxer kit, but I am interested in the shampoo in general. Can you buy the shampoo alone at Sally's or a similar store?
