Hey Ladies,

For those of you that use or have used Mizani relaxers. How do you like it? Is it good, is it great, is it okay? I was recently talking to a co worker and she swears by it. She said it's the best thing since sliced bread. She uses all the products and said it just makes her hair grow....but her hair wasn't long..thick but not long. She said she had just cut it. Her length kind of made me skeptical so I had to refer this issue to the masters... the ladies of LHCF.

Thanks in advance for the info.

I have used it for over 3 years and I love it! I use the mild which is lye and I have a sensitive scalp, so if I don't base, it will burn the mess out of me.

I've used the lye (mild) and no-lye(sensitive scalp) and like them equally. Its a GREAT relaxer and I'll never switch!:D

For my last relaxer, I had my stylists use it on me for the first time. My conclusion is "Good Bye Affirm" :)

Aside from the straightening factor, which is excellent, my hair had a silkiness that Affirm regular did not give me. Plus my shedding problem all together ceased the first 5-6 wks post, which is a true feat. I would not have tried it if a co-worker of mine whose hair is always beautiful, had not told me it was the relaxer she uses. I give it a A+++

BTW, I used the regular lye formula (I'm 3c/4a).

I have used Mizani Mild for the last two touch ups and it really doesn't do a good job of straightening my hair. I am a 4b. Maybe I need to try the regular once my tub is done. My hair is severly underprocessed as a result.:ohwell:

I've been using Mizani for about 4 years and I would recommend it. I get compliments on the thickness and length of my hair. Last year one of my friends stopped going to her hairdresser and started going to mine.

My hairdresser uses the Mizani relaxer for fine/color treated hair on me. My hair is neither fine nor color treated, but the relaxer works well.

I have personally never liked this relaxer. It was the last one I used and it burned so badly that I had to get the stylist to wash it out asap! I was kicking myself because I had bad experiences with it in the past. It's just too strong for my fine hair! As a result, my hair was only partially relaxed and shed a lot for the weeks post-relaxer. I'm not sure which one she used, I think it was the sensitive scalp one though. Anyway, the good thing is that experience led me to LHCF, and I've started to nurture my hair back to it's state before the relaxer.

i have used this relaxer in the past and really liked it initially. then it stopped working. maybe now since i have learned and am learning so much information from these hair boards i might be able to go back to it.:)

When my stylist used Mizani for the first time I couldn't please how wonderful it made my hair feel. I went out and stocked up on all the products immediately after. I'm hooked. I say go for it you won't regret it

Thanks for the replies. I think I will try it! I love the thickness Mizani users have. The ladies who said it burned your scalp maybe you should have used the mild formula. Do you think maybe that would have helped? I really don't want any burning or underprocessed hair.

I've always burned easily regardless of the relaxer...until I started doing them on my own:lol: I've used the Mizani mild and the Mizani senstive scalp rhelaxer on my own and haven't burned once. I base myself really well (probably a lil too well:lol: ) so that may have alot to do with it.

This is funny because I just relaxed today with Mizani mild (lye) and left it on for about 8 minutes because i could see it working already. The no lye formula left my hair DRY DRY DRY and very tangled, but I'm sticking to the lye formula. My hair is straight (but not bone) moisturized, and not tangled. I tried Phyto before, but I'm sticking to Mizani.

I use Mizani Regular and I really like it. It doesn't get my hair bone straight...but I like that. If you have 4b hair and are looking to go bone straight, Mizani may not be for you. I leave it on for the maximum amount of time recommended on the jar and I still have some curl/wave left. I like it because my hair maintains some body and it feels really soft. FYI- I like Design Essentials for getting bone straight while keeping body/softness.

Ditto!

I like the Mizani Mild tho cause it is so mild, but it doesn't look like I just got a relaxer, I'll proabably have to get another one in 5 weeks!

OK, so I am really thinking I want to switch from Motions Mild to Mizani Mild. Does anyone know where I can get some online for a decent price? I found the shampoos/conditioners on metrobeauty.com, but they don't sell the relaxer.

www.sheldeez.com

that should be waaay more than enough. I always get the small baby tub (ohhh just about 8oz )and there's always plenty left over at the end.

I am in the process of switching over to Mizani. I had a touch up done with it a few months ago and I was very impressed. My last touch up would have been Mizani if Sheldeez had shipped on time. My next touch up will be with mizani

I used Mizani for many, many years and was generally pleased with it. But every couple of relaxers (lye-regular) a section of my hair would not process at all. There was no predicting when that would happen. So I've switched to Affirm Mild lye-based relaxer since I'd used it many years ago and had good results. So I would recommend Mizani but just watch out for the processing issue. (I always have my relaxers applied at a salon...too chicken to do it at home!!).

I have been thinking about switching to either this relaxer or Phyto.

For those ladies that are using or planning on using the Mizani (lye) relaxer, what strength are you using mils or regular and what is you hair texture: thick or fine.

My hair is thick. I plan to use the mild because I have a sensitive scalp. But I want to go with a lye relaxer which is why I don't want the sensitive scalp.

My hair is thin but the new growth is very coarse and I use the Medium/Normal (which is regular) and still get waves. The entire application process for me takews 18 minutes. I also have sensitive scalp, I base very well (every single inch of my scalp) with Optinum 1st step pre-relaxer base and usually no problem.
