Hey,

Still have not decided which one of the two 2 use what have your expierences been with these two brands and which one gives better results?

I use Affirm Fibergaurd.

It leaves my hair strong and gets it straight without taking all of the body away. My hair still has texture to it when wet, but dries straight when in a pony with a scarf around it . It has yet to burn me and I haven't had any dryness or breakage issues.

I've used Mizani Butterblends and it was a great relaxer, but it left me very underprocessed. It softened my hair texture and made my hair more managable, but I wasn't looking to texlax my hair. It was way better than the other Mizani relaxers and not as strong, but it still burned me the last two times I used it and didn't get my straight.

Love affirm fiberguard, been using it for 5 years and always relax nice and straight and soft... Never had a burn issue either...

I've used both...like both, but prefer Mizani butterblends! Reasons being, It's extremely gentle on the scalp and leaves the hair ubber moisturized!!

oh damn it lol...right when I thought Í made up my mind to use Mizani I am reading all these great affirm reviews.....

maybe someone else can chime in on which is the better one I am still not sure...

I have only used Mizani ButterBlends Regular and it leaves my hair soft and moisturized. If your hair is resistant and you want bone straight hair then it might not be for you. My hair has never gotten completely straight with this relaxer and I always have some texture left, but I like the way my hair feels so I just stick with it.

I used to use Affirm (both lye and no lye) - I am stuck on Mizani Butter Blend (lye) -I could not believe how good my hair felt - I have to concur with everything Charmtresse said.

I haven't tried the Mizani butterblend but I use Affirm fiberguard.

Affirm Fiberguard lye gets my hair straight without the limp look and I do not suffer from relaxer scalp burns.

Mizani Butter Blends! I really love this relaxer,it makes my hair feel moist and conditioned yet strong. Affirm was good but I felt that it kinda dried out my hair, it did make my hair stronger though but I like Butter Blends better.

I am thinking now that I am going to go with Mizani butter blend and I am guessing If I leave the relaxer in for 20 min it should be bone straight right?
Affirm was my first choice but I seems from the reviews, it does not leave your hair as shiny and conditioned witch is what I really want!

Yes that was a compliant of mine with the Affirm, good relaxer but my hair had no shine, it just looked dull. With the BB I got shine, softness and moisture all in one.

If I decide to relax, I will definitely go with Mizani butter blends. I have never used it before, but what I have seen and heard, I have liked:grin:

I am an affirm girl. Just had my first touchup with affirm fiberguard lye. I like it so far, but not sure if I will stay with it. I want my hair straight and I have better results with regular lye. I can feel a difference, I have some wavy spots in the back where my hair is thicker, but my hair is still really soft and shiny like with the regular. I tried regular mizani long ago and I hate mizani relaxers and conditioners.

I am trying Mizani Butter Blend today. I let you know what happens. I am a little nervous because I never used a relaxer with lye in it.

Ditto! Every time I go to the BSS, I've got my eye on it. But that won't be for years to come.

Just wanted to come back in to tell you about a convo I had with Avlon customer service yesterday.

The affirm fiberguard relaxer is for damaged hair, color treated hair, hair that is not the healthiest. They said if your hair is healthy you should not be using the fiberguard relaxer. It purposely underprocesses the hair. She was really nice and hooked me up with someone who works for the company to do my relaxers, as I won't be letting my current stylist apply another relaxer on me. OP, if your hair is not damaged you'd want to steer clear of this relaxer and go for the normal lye one if choosing Affirm.

I dont know if leaving it in for longer would be ok. I've only used MBB once on 2in of newgrowth and seriously, your hair has more 'weight' to it. The reason is, even though its gentle, its still a relaxer and it might dry your hair and not even get it that much strighter.

Maybe you could leave it in for 20 min if you mix a little condish in. Like maybe a good dollop

Please do I am waiting for results?:yep:

I know you didnt ask for it, but I'm gonna give you my review since I was on the fence as well. I was a former Affirm user but.. I mean, its good, and I was prob going to use it forever, but as you can tell by my siggy, I have really really dry hair and any moisture being robbed is a LOT.

REVIEW

I did this myself last Sunday. This is my second time doing my own relaxer (I know, yikes). anyway, I wanted to relax my hair but not bone straight. I bought the one for fine/color treated hair. I didnt mix anything in.

I didnt use the Honey Shield, I used some Protecto (Affirm line) from a last relaxer. When i run out maybe I'll get it.

I also did not get the Butter Base. I based my scalp w Vaseline.

I applied the relaxer and went over the time a little because, well, I'm slow. Next time i'm mixing in my condish

then, I rinsed, applied Aphogee 2 min reconstuctor

Used ORS creamy aloe neut/chelating shampoo 4x followed by my Elasta QP Neut. poo (this one has color indicator) - i'm paranoid

Joico Moisture Recovery for 30-45 min, no heat

Rinsed, applied the MBB 'Microfusion Penetrating Condis Trtment' (this stuff is amazing but, expensive! 17.99 for a 3.4oz bottle!!) the instr says to spray in after neut and rinse out.. I left it in... :look:

then applied leave ins and roller set.

this was on sunday - i washed my hair yesterday (Fri) and like, for real, I see me in a long term relationship w this thing. I haven't shed a lot like I usually do after a relaxer, which is leading me to believe it wasn't my scalp, it was the relaxer/my stylist(she never based me). and there was some breakage in the shower ( I need a trim, BAAAAD) I airdried and it was just maarrrvelous. I also did a protein tmt w ORS Mayo but followed by Kenra MC instead of joico. (MC is great, but my joico is better)

Last thing about the MBB, there is this one part of the line, that I do think is essential that I forgot to purchase (will be going back for it) It's called the PerpHecting Cream description:

NORMALIZING CONDITIONER
A light cream conditioner designed to re-establish hair’s natural pH level formulated with an ultra moisturizing blend of shea butter and honey with strengthening ceramide. Moisturizing agents provide excellent detangling benefits to minimize breakage from wet combing and styling. Patented ceramide penetrates the cuticle to strengthen for optimal conditioning.

You use this before you neutralize, I think.. Also, all this stuff is kinda 'spensive but it should last a long time.

HTH!
