I'm still tyring to figure out the conditioner that my hair likes the most so I'm going through a lot of them. What I noticed the other day after bringing home yet more conditioner to try that the bottles of conditioner I already had were not completly empty. They ranged from Miss Jessie's, to Garnie Fructis, Herbal Essance Hello Hydration, Pantene Relaxed and Natual, some other conditioner I picked up from sally's.....I'll stop it right there.

None of the bottles had enough product in them to do my whole head so I got a container and dumped them all in. There was plenty in there to do at least 2 co-washes and a Deepcon if I wanted to. I went ahead and did a co-wash but after I started to wonder if I had just commited a no-no. Can't say I noticed any "real change" after one co-wash.

Is it a good idea to mix conditioners? Has anybody out there done it? What were your results if any?

I mix a lot of things. But I can only tell you that with my hair it hates some of the conditioners out there. I try them individually first, so if your hair reacts positively with all of the ones you mixed...it's possible that it may work.
I always strand test my mixtures of any kind before I use them all over my wet hair because the reactions of the combos can be different...but also because the individual conditioners will tell you a lot.
My hair will come out in strands with some conditioners...esp. the cheap ones, but everyone is different on that note.
With that said, again...everyone's hair is different. My hair is like me...very particular, :look: so a strand test would be adviseable after your mixture..esp. if it's as particular as mine.
HTH

I find that I only mix conditioners that I'm not that bothered about and want to use up. I don't need to mix the conditioners that work well as they gives me moisture, shine, bounce etc.

Thankfully my hair has not responded negitivly to the conditioners I've tried alone. There are conditioners that my hair seems to really like though...

Has anybody ever added an oil to their conditioners + water for their own leave in??

As a Rule No.:nono:

Only if I have several jars open and I'm down to the last corner(s) in each of them (and I'm trying to use them up).

That's why I never try to have more than 1-3 DC'ers all open at the same time.

I pre-poo with oil+condish 1x a week. :yep:
Sometimes I mix conditioner with a very minute amount of shampoo.
But I'm always wearing conditioner. :yep:

I have. I've mixed oil and water with conditioners - Giovanni, Rusk, KCNT, Yes to Carrots, Alba, Elucence - for use as a leave-in.

I will occassionally combine the Aphogee 2-Minute Reconstructor with a moisturizing DC for a nice protein-moisture bump.

I do it weekly and so far it works for my hair. I usually mix a treatment (Bonacure Repair Rescue or Time Restore) with Mane and Tail detangling conditioner and hemp seed oil.

Yup. I mixed all of my deep conditioners together, added some oils and essential oils.

i heard mixing condishes in the bottles can throw off the pH or something so i dont do it, but i do mix diff condishes & oils in my hand or in a bowl before i apply it, but i use everything that i mix so they're not just sitting there until next time

I feel the same way. You just read my mind.:lachen:

I do this all the time. As a matter of fact, I can't even remember the last time I used a conditioner by itself (unless we're talking about cowashing). I do it primarily because I'm on a ceramide kick so I have to make sure I'm adding a ceramide conditoner to another one that doesn't contain any. It also saves me money/helps conditioner last longer since I have to share with my 13 year old and my 5 year old, both of which have a lot of hair.

I don't mix them in bottles and let them sit though-I only mix right before I apply it. I haven't noticed any adverse affects from doing this yet.

It seems like there is a base for conditioners. Most of them have the same ingredients and differ in oil, flower/plant extracts, protein source, fragrance and dyes. I use an applicator bottle to combine left overs into one container. I do a lot of oil rinses and ayurvedic treatments and the leftovers get used.

I only mix conditioners that I already know work well for me separately or if they could possibly eliminate an extra step. Right now I have some Queen Helene Cholesterol mixed with White Rain for Women of Color and it's providing sleep and good moisture for this dry winter air.

I mix conditioners and add a couple ingredients too (honey, evco)...i'm a mixologist when it comes to conditioners lol

Wow! What a response! Thank you ladies for all of your input!

(Here I thought I was on to something off the chain LOL!)
