I'm probably the worst person to ask about transition methods. The hardest part for me was after the transition. Being that it was an unplanned transition to natural, I used heat to wear my hair straight for about a year waiting to find a hairdresser I could trust to relax my hair. After so much time passed without having one, I eventually decided never to relax again. After cutting the remaining relaxer out and wearing my hair "naturally" i suffered heat damage which caused parts of my hair to be straight. This made handling styling more difficult. I had to find the patience to sit it out and gradually cut out the damaged parts. Experience wise, I cannot tell you the best way (in my opinion) to transition, but I can tell you the WORST way (in my opinion) which is pressing/straightening on a regular basis.

Thanks so1913. I have an appointment there in a couple of weeks, so its good to know that I can buy some supplies on discount!!!:D

Ooooh, let me know how it goes. What are you going for? I think I'm going to book my next visit for Feb.

This will be my 1st visit. I am going to get a Silkener. Hopefully, it will go well. I am a really excited, but I hear/read so many conflicting things about the salon, I don't really know what to truly expect. :(

Can someone tell me the difference between the Baby Buttercreme and regular Buttercreme? I've actually only ever used the Curly Pudding before on my daughter's 3b/3c hair and I wasn't that excited about the results, although it did smell good.

Just the peppermint oil. Curly Buttercreme has it and you get a cooling sensation and a strong peppermint scent, the Baby Buttercreme doesn't have it and has a baby powder like scent.

Does this stuff spoil? I won't be using it for almost a yr (transitioning again).

Thanks lady!!!

Hmmm....I usually use mine up in about 6 months, but I'm sure the all the preservatives and crap in there give it a decent shelf life, lol. I know for some all natural products they say store for 6 months in the fridge, so I'm thinking this can go longer if unopenned and kept in a cool place....maybe...

It should be ok. I always order my buttercream in two's to cut down on the shipping and handling and since it takes me about 6 months to use a jar, the one I am using now has been here for almost a year and it's still good.

Thanks for posting this so1913...I am loving the natural and texturized looks... I'm definately holding off on any more relaxer action until I can figure out how to rock the wash and go...That is sweet!! Those before and after pictures are really nice, I know there are a few natural hair care salons in ATL that offer simular services.

I'll check out her products too, but I'm loving the Sidr Tree butter balm right about now.....its so moisturizing.

I love your hair too by the way so1913!!

Ugh! I wish I had waited. I ordered the Baby Buttercreme and Curly Meringue from Curlmart last week. Oh well. Has anyone tried the Curly Pudding? If so, how is it?

so1913 you and your hair is sooo pretty.

i wish i could get my hair to tame the way yours looks in the pic on a wash and go, i always get frizzies. and i know my hair is not your length or cute cut but you get my point. i want to buy some products and i have never spent over 10.00 on a hairproduct b4 so buying curly pudding would be the first... i am scared i wont like it although i am very tempted since u use it regularly.

Have you tried Fantasia IC? That's what I use in place of Curly Pudding. between $3-$4.

I use that in the summer for wash and go's. Good stuff - works really well.

For those in the NY area, I hear it's BOGO at Ricky's locations as well! (darn it! LOL)
