Hey Y'all

I am getting relaxed this afternoon (and I'm soooo excited - it was gettin' really THICK up in there!) and I plan to do a clarifying shampoo tomorrow just to make sure all the chemical is out. The consensus is that I should also do a mild protein treatment . . . I'm just wondering what brands/types of conditioners fit the bill?

Would ORS replenishing pak work?

Thanks in advance!

I just feel like you're going to strip your hair (with the clarifying shampoo) :sad:and then harden it with the protein conditioner:ohwell: and then that leads to hair that breaks easily and has limited elasticity.

Why not consider trying a moisture, moisture wash this week and a protein, moisture wash next week?

You probaby already do this, but I self texlax and to insure that I get all the relaxer out, I use my neutralizing shampoo several times and I also use a neutralizing conditioner.

I just can't see any reason to clarify at this point....clarifying is generally for product build up. :yep:

Listen to Lana!

As for the mild protein, I used Aphogee 2 min. Reconstructer - weekly (it's safe to do it that often) until my breakage stopped.

I tried ORS and it SUUUUCKED! But that's my hair. Some hate it too and others love it. Try it and see.

I think that if you use the neutrilzing shampoo properly you should be fine. I would not clarify afterwards. The ORS mild protein is not going to make your hair hard. It never made mine hard. In fact, it came with the ORS relaxer and I have been using it ever since after a relaxer.

what relaxer are you using?

I agree.

For mild protein I like

Nexxus keraphix
Elasta qp breakage control serum
Aubrey Organics GPB
Aphogee 2 min reconstructor packets
Smooth and shine silk infusion reconstructor-comes in packets at walgreens or the dollar general; My newest love

ORS replenishing is my fav for light protein, the collagen will give elasticity.
I will also say dont clarify, if you want you can to the acv rinse, as the acid will neutralise excess alkaline

Well I use Nexxus Aloe Rid to clarify . . . that should be gentle enough right? *scratching head*

I will probably just follow up with the ORS replenishing pak since I already own it. LOL! Or I might get the keraphix since I love Nexxus products.

Thanks ladies!

I agree.... you shouldn't need to use the clarify poo and ORS is very mild and makes my hair very soft.

What if I just co-wash after my relaxer . . . maybe do a co-wash (using ORS) and then rollerset using heat? *thinking*

UPDATED TO ADD

I just went through some PMs with my big sis (Nvybeauty!!!) and she recommended using ORS Creamy Aloe Shampoo, which neutralizing qualities, after a relaxer. So I think I'll just do that.

thanks ladies!

Thats what I use too. I think Im going to start using it regularly as a first shampoo and follow with a moisturizing one since I have hard water.

I alternate between ApHogee's @ minute and Aubrey's Organics GPB for a mild protein conditioner.

I co-sign with these two. I use the Elasta QP more often but like them both

The elasta qp lasts a long time for me and I also like the gel feel of it.

Now that is the God to honest truth. It def lasts and the gel is a nice touch. Keeps it from being so runny. It seems you don't have to use so much either.
