Very embrassing how do I turn it around, the front is shoulder length but the back isn't as long...what am I doing so wrong at the back of my head that suffocates the hair so much?
:perplexed

Um I changed my regiomine a bit but here it goes every week I wash with tresmine moisturise shampoo and then the conditioner too.
I then place nexxus deep rid clarfier on my hair and rinse out
Afterwards I DC with keracare humctro for 2 hours.
I then apply a leave in and air dry with roller sets.

Every 3-4 days I do a condition wash with tresmine moisturing condioner and air dry with roller sets.

Daily I apply -don't laugh just needed to get rid of it as I cut heat from my regimine I found as a DC it wasnt that good- nexxus humstress to my hair espically the ends and seal with cocunt oil.
I wrap my hair in a silk scraf at night and then into a shower cap.

infrequent combing +no heat what so ever ,
But I have only been doing this for 3 weeks do you think it will do the trick?

I see you recently cut the heat from your regimen, which is good!
Make sure to give the nape section extra attention (moisturize it and it baby it daily) and it will rebound. :yep:
Also, when you wrap your hair with the silk scarf at night make sure you are not making the knot at the nape (alternate where you tie the knot) and don't make it too tight.
How often do you do protein treatments?
I'm sure some others will chime in with excellent advice for you ;)

I was having a similar problem. Check the ends at the nape for splits. If they are split, trim just that section. For some reason it catches up with the rest rather quickly.

Also relax that section last, leave the relaxer on for the shortest amount of time in that spot. I hope this helps. Please let us know about your progress. You should see results in about two months with all the changes you've made. :)

I have this exact problem. I have horrible habits, and for the longest would not wrap my hair up in anything at night, therefore, causing "bed head" breakage.

I am now left with bra-strap length hair on both sides, except maybe 3-4 inches across the back which causes me to do comb overs, where my hair split in the middle and pushed to the front, and most often, not wear it down at all.

I have done this same thing to myself multiple times and usually I would just cut it off to meet the short parts. I refused to do this anymore as I was cutting off 3 and 4 inches each time, and it is gradually catching up. It will just take more time and a committment of healthy hair habits from me.

Once I get to a certain length I want, I will let keep it at that length and let the rest grow into it.

I had the exact same problem.:yep: After every relaxer, I was trimming 1 to 2 inches of growth off my front and sides so that they would be even with my shorter, middle, back length. This caused me to be stuck at shoulder length...FOR YEARS. How I finally solved this problem:

1) I relax my nape area last.
2) I make sure my ends (especially the back) are kept moisturized.
3) I don't let my ends rub against my clothing.
4) No direct heat, ever.
5) I sleep with a satin scarf and/or bonnet
6) I am more gentle with detangling.

Hope this helps.

A professional once told me that if I wrap my hair under a scarf and wake up in the middle of the night sweating around my nape, scarves arent good for my hair b/c I sweat a lot & the excessive heat will suffocate my hair and cause breakage. At least, I think that's what her explanation was. Cant remember. I just check every now and then for sweat around my nape.

Her remedy = sleeping with a hair net (the ones u can tie) to let air in.

Thankyou! I use nexxus emergance as a protein reconstructor but as soon as I cut heat from my regime I noticed that my hair started to break afterwards:perplexed, I will moisturise my nape more and about relaxing...how long should I leave it on my 4b hair on the nape? should I give a time gap between the front and the back?

My total relaxing time is 15 min., including application and smoothing. Most of my hair is 4b with patches of 4a in the nape area. I relax my more resistant areas first, which is upper-back, sides and front. Then, I apply and smooth my nape probably the last 8-9 minutes of relaxing time. It turns out just a little wavy, more texlaxed.

I have that problem also, I'm left thinking that it's because when I use to go to the beauticians, they would do the back first, therefore, that area is more damaged than the sides. My back is nowhere where I want it to be but it's a lot better than when I first started. I'll continue to trim the sides until the back catches up...

I do all this, except I use direct heat maybe ONCE every three months, and I still have this problem. It's about 2 inches shorter than my left and right side. I need help.:wallbash:

i have the same problem the only thing is its healthy hair back there. i wish there was something that worked because i dont wear my hair down at all an the hairdresser keep saying cut it but i wont

I am going to be the first to tell the truth about what causes this problem in the middle back of your hair. While you are on your back during sex all the friction and sweat rips your hair off jsut braid or twist up the small area or do it a different way:grin:. simple but true.

I'm having a similar problem. And I alway tie my scarf fairly tight and right where the short area is:wallbash:. Now that I know better...

I'm natural and have a similar problem with my hair at middle of the back (just above the nape) drier and coarser than the rest of my hair which makes it prone to breakage. So I started babying that area: make smaller sections at the back to apply conditioner and moisturizer; rinse out products properly back there, detangle more gently, etc.

So in addition to relaxing that section last, try adjusting your techniques and see if it helps.

Good luck!

I have this problem so I'm bumping ...anything else help your upside down V's?
How do you wear your hair at night? Does roller setting help or hinder?

Yeah I have the same problem. You have to be VERY careful with bunning. I bun at the sides of my hair now, rotating regularly. I try and give the back as much rest as possible with minimal tension.

Ensure the area is moisturised properly.
