Metro DC area meeting?

Dang....I have to work every saturday from 9-5...maybe someone can take pictures for the rest of us? It'll almost be like being there, lol.

Hugs,
Crys

It was suggested earlier that this could be an east coast meeting. I say, anyone who wants to come, sign up. right now it looks like we have about 25, i think and we should be able to fit that # in the olive garden.

it hasn't been decided, but i imagine that since most pp. seem to be concentrated closer to the metro area, it will be near one of the metros, maybe in VA. as soon as its decided the info will be posted.

Hmmmm......./images/graemlins/scratchchin.gif how far is DC from NY again? /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Okay, Ladies I've been doing some research this a.m., and found an Olive Garden, 3548 S. Jefferson Street, in Falls Church, VA, which is only 9 miles from Union Amtrak Train Station in DC (and only 4.41 miles from the Alexandria, VA Amtrak Station). This way, people who don't have a car, OR who live in Baltimore, New York, and Delaware can ride the Amtrak train down. Has anyone ever been to this Olive Garden?? Any thoughts? Could we simply take a taxi from the train station to this restaurant? I got driving directions from both train stations e-mailed to me if people decide they want to meet here.

Hey it never occured to me take the Amtrak......now I might really consider taking the trip.... /images/graemlins/scratchchin.gif

25? /images/graemlins/shocked.gif WOW!! i wanna come too...

Hmmm, maybe I can make it being that I'm currently in VA for school anyway (and D.C. isn't that far away....)

I'm in Virginia for school too. Do you mind me asking where you go? I go to Hampton. PM me if you like.

How about some place that's right in Union Station (like Unos, B. Smiths, or America)? That way its metor and Amtrak accessible w/o having to pick people up from the train station.
They accomodate large groups all of the time.

Monique,

I think this is a great idea! Have you PM'd Beverly about this. I second B.Smith's I've never been, but I heard the food was great & this would be a great excuse to eat there. Once we get a head count we can make reservations. Here are the menus Dinner Menu and Lunch Menu. /images/graemlins/lick.gif

So, are you guys meeting at the beginning of April for sure? I just want to make sure that I can't make it. Don't guess I'll be back to visit family around there until May....would you all consider meeting again in May even if you meet in April???

We could always meet at 6pm if that's more convenient for you. May also sounds good to me. I'm in VA and my Saturdays are a little uncertain. I'll find out on Thursday what's what.

Leigh

I'm not sure if I can make it the beginning of April yet either. So, let's do a 2nd meeting in May or even June if's that convenient for the folks who make the 1st gathering.

Hey Leigh,
I'm not sure if you're speaking directly to me when you say this but just in case, I'm in Korea so things aren't going to change. Just trying to see when I'll be in the states for the summer. I think I'll post when I'm coming anyway, just to see who's available then... /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Oh I would LOVE it if we could meet at 6pm!!!

BTW, whoever posted those menus from one of the union station restaurants -- one of the menus was yummy......there goes my diet!

The food at B. Smiths is sssssooooo GOOD!!!!! If the meeting is at 6pm this would be great! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I didn't PM Beverly but I will. I knew y'all would like B Smith's!! I've eaten there a couple of times (hmmmm to meet other internet groups...interesting) and the food has always been good.

B. Smiths ok?

Is B. Smiths ok with everyone? They are considerably more expensive than Olive Garden. You can expect to pay $20-30 each for lunch.

Leshia, you've got the cuuuuuuuutest children!

[sorry.. back to thread]

I think B. should be flattered to have a large group of classy women of color at her joint. /images/graemlins/laugh.gif The pricing isn't so much more than the garden's anyway...
