maxigliding THIS SECOND (WAS) and NOW a disaster

and its not coming out right
its looking like a blow dry and im using level 6
and im having a hard time getting the teeth through
i have to stop every second and im getting no where
i dont know what to do
maybe i should switch to the flat plate?

Level 6 is extremely hot, turn it down!!! You'll burn your hair quite badly!
Don't squeeze the MG hard, just let the teeth glide through...you may want to switch to the flat plate, that gives me better results.

okay luckily im still on the nape
ill turn it down
and im thinking of switching it cuz this teeth thing is simply not working
and i dont get how im supposed to get to the back of my head

I usually use level 5.
Don't press to hard and if u find it not being able to slide thru..press the steam button at the same time this will soften it up and it make it easier to glide thru hair.

for some reason the teeth were not working
i think next time i may have to do a really good blow dry FIRST
cuz this method isnt working
ive swtiched to the flat plate for now

hey but its my first time so u live and learn

girl i just did!
i know for a fact
i just put a water based moisturizer on the middle section and went over it like an idiot
i thought maybe i should use a different product
anyhow is rock hard and FRIED
is that reversible

any how im about to have like a nervous break down
for 2 hours ive been doing this and its all one poof
and ive only done the nape

is the maxiglide refundable?

Girl, you need to be using some sort of heat protectant, that water based moisturizer isn't gonna cut it!
Put that MG down right now!!!

im using chi silk infusion!!
lol
which is not helping me at ALL
and i just did put that in b/c my hair feels so dry right now
when i tested the maxiglide out a few weeks ago it felt great... i had tons of product on it tho
right now my hair just feels very brittle and dry
and this is not a good idea AT ALL
but i have a yearbook pic to take tomorrow so iono
im just gonna get this over with and next time i think blow drying first is a must

Yeah, I would have to say try blow drying first. I also have to maxiglide tiny sections of hair to get it as straight and smooth as I like.

Yeah, well, it didn't work for me either...no matter what the setting was. I gave up on mine after neither the pin plate nor the flat plate worked for me.

Divine Inspiration Im so glad Im not the only one
When I go to my stylist to get a press, youd think I have a perm
But this
I dont know
Im not giving up on it until Ive blowdried first

Well I am done!
And I have yearbook pics to take tomorrow
But I cant even comb through my hair right now
So after FRYING, and ATTEMPTING to pin curl for these pics.. Then spraying what I thought was oil sheen but was actual AQUA spray on my hair... I'm going to bible class, going to bed, and hoping for the best!
Tomorrow I am running to get more honeysuckle rose and I am cowashing my hair tomorrow so fast... Even though I just washed it yesterday, I HAVE to do something that I know works right now

Thanks everyone who responded

Ouch!

Don't worry, a good CW and your hair will look fine. You may want to wash it with poo before you try the MG again, to get the Aquanet out completely.

It took me a few times to get the hang of the MG...just keep practicing. :)

Dont give up. My first and second time was a hot mess but I learned to take my time and use small pieces of hair to get the best result. Never use a water based product before you are going to use the MG. You need to go out and buy a heat protectant. I used vo5 miracle and it worked great. I dont blow dry my hair. I just let it air dry in plaits. I also use Beyond the Zone and Sild Elements heat protectants. I like the smell of vo5 miracle better so i use that more often. If you are inexperienced with using a regular iron you wont get the hang or using the MG right away. Keep trying but not too often and it will work out for you. If your pics were later in the year I would come there and do it for you. I will be home in Jersey in two weeks. I hope you find something that works for you so your pics come out great.

awwwwwwww
thats so sweet
i would have loved that
well i pin curled it and i will find out in the morning

i do believe i can get the hang of it
and i did use CHI silk infusion
i had just made the water based moisturizer mistake out of frustration
my hair is extremely tangly so blowdrying may be mandatory for me

and yes this was my first time using a flat iron on my own head before

Did you try wrapping it? I mean I know it's poofy now but if you wrap it and put a scarf on it overnight it'll lay down. Since it's already somewhat straight, it should go the right way. That always worked for me when my hair was fuzzy. You could try it. And if it still looks poofy in the morning you can cowash.

ETA: I just saw that you said you pincurled it. That might work even better. You have a lot of hair. I hope it turns out okay in the morning for you. :)

girl who you tellin
leave it up to me to experiment for my yearbook picture lol

but cant wrap it, because i literally cannot get a comb through it
i cant wait until these pics are over so i can throught some AO honeysuckle rose in there and fix my life

anyway....well even if it comes out horrific.. whatever, luckily this world is not my home right? im just a passing thru!!

Awww Don't worry about it. I'm sure you'll look great and your pics will turn out nice.

hmmm...next time i think you should do it on freshly washed, freshly blowdried hair to get the best results. I just did mines about 45 mins ago, it came out perfect. I shampooed, conditioned with Lustrasilk shea Butter Cholesterol, lightly towel dried. Then I sprayed with Nexxus Heat Protex and blowdried section by section on low. Then Maxiglided and it came out great. Just try to use as little product as possible. What all did you already have on your hair?

Anyways, u have beautiful hair though. Hope your pic comes out good!

umm it was freshly washed
i had no product on my hair other than the chi silk infusion
and thanks!!

Well its 7:30 NY time.. and my hair looks .... umm probably worst than last night
So I dont know
I have to leave here in 2 hours
I tried to "fry" it again but my hair is extremely stiff right now.. Its worst than being blow dried... I wish I had done that
So Im trying to get it to lay down right now instead of poofing
If anyone has any suggestions before like 8:30 AM let me know

You'll still look great in your pictures girl. Don't worry. It takes time to learn how to "maxiglide". I was thinking about purchasing one....but I'm too lazy to spend the money....lol. I already purchased the FHI flat iron a couple of months ago, and it worked well.......until about 4 weeks later I notice my hair getting very thin. You know when your hair starts to get thin, and you really don't know what happened? You never saw hair coming out or anything....very weird. My hair is use to a hot comb, so that could have been the problem. To me, flat iron's cannot get the hair as straight as a hot comb. So I figured if the maxiglide has teeth, maybe that will work....but I'll be mad if it doesn't, after paying all of that money....

Anyway, keep trying...and stop putting the setting so high! You don't want to ruin the beautifyl curls that you have.

Let us know how it went and how your hair does when you wash it. I'm sure it will be fine. But be careful with that heat!

Ok the pics came out kind of bad guys!!
My hair was a big poof
And umm my hair
Well I just washed it and it hasn't returned to the state it was in pre maxiglide
It looks like how it looked when I used to press it
I hope over the next few washes it goes back

Im actually regretting this a incy wincy bit
I wouldnt make a habit of straightening my hair

And I cant believe Im saying this.. But I LOVE my hair kinky

But anyhow the photographer said I can come back and do it over if I dont like it
And I think I will just do a twistout for that
