Maxiglide vs Regular Old Flatiron

Are the expensive flat-irons (maxiglide, chi, etc.) really that much better than a $30 ceramic iron? I want to know what you all think before I invest $100.

If you do a search, I think someone did a comparison of the Sedu or Chi vs. the Maxiglide. If I find it, I'll bump it.

Your question is whether or not the $30 one is any better or worst than the $100 ones, correct?

Well, if you read up on ceramic technology, you find that some irons(the cheaper ones) contain plates that are coated with ceramic material and other are solid ceramic plated and this can be the biggest difference. However, many ladies have wonderful success with the $30 conair ceramic technology type irons you get from walmart of target. However, your smoothest shiniest salon-like flat-iron experience will be from one of the expensives ones that contain solid ceramic plates which distributes the heat evenly.

The choice is simply up to you. You can go between and get the generic Sally's CHI for about $50

I visited Sally's yesterday to pick up a Denman 3. I saw the GVC flatiron(chi knockoff) It was about $69.00. I asked the girl if the plates were coated or solid, she said probably coated. I couldn't see anything ont he box to indicate either way. I may just look them up and write to them.

Meanwhile, I'm leaning heavily toward purchasing this. Someone I know bought and said it glides like Michael Jackson!

I have a Helen of Troy Ceramic Iron and I have a Maxiglide. Honestly, I don't see the Maxiglide as a superior product. :perplexed I have used the Maxiglide on my mother's hair and I think I like my old iron better.
