I did my daughter's natural hair about 2 weeks ago. Basically I washed, conditioned and use salerm as a leave-in. I braided it in 4 sections and let it airdry overnight. In the morning, some parts were slightly damp so I used a blow dryer. I then put her hair in the sections pictured... these were the results.

album - flatiron results

** i should add that a few hours later, her hair did indeed "puff up" but that could've been partly due to her having fun @ a party **

Great results. How precious she really is cheesin'. You have a gorgeous lil momma there.

CaramelHonee, your daughter is so adorable. Tell her we said hello *wink*. That iron did a good job! Have you tried it on your hair yet? I am telling you I can't wait to get my iron. :)

Your daughter's hair came out beautiful, her hair appears to be the same texture as my daughter's hair and don't you just hate to friggin dry ends, any way i'd say both mother and daughter has beautiful heads of hair and one
quick ques. for the road- all said and done was the maxiglide worth it?

@ skegees - i will tell her, you r one of her 'girls' ;) i did use it on my hair but i didn't really notice any difference, maybe b/c my hair was freshly permed. I'll have to try it on my airdried hair and post those pics.
@ nana - i HATE dry ends... LOL. was the maxiglide worth it... yes! it could b a little cheaper, say $50, but all in all, it was a good purchase. I'm very happy with the way her hair came out.
@msp - girl, that puff out had me like WHOA! on the flipside, i have NO problem with her hair, it stays straight until i rewash it (no tangles).

CaramelHonee, did you use the plate with the pins? I used it on my son's hair and mine this weekend and I had an awful time getting it through. It pulled alot of my hair out as well as his. I even detangled my hair with a fine-toothed comb. I really loved the results but the amount of hair I lost was very scary and not worth it. The guy says that if the iron does not glide through your hair then you don't have the plates closed enough but I did and it still kept pulling hair right out of my scalp. I also tried it without the pins and just the flat plates and the results were not different than my ceramic-coated Jilbere. I am sending it back and going to try the Sedu out. :(

Maxiglide Before and After results - 12/25/04

I have used the maxi glide too. I found that when I use their products only my hair had alot of body and it lasts. I think that at times I did have some strands I lost that hay not have happened if I didn't use the plated pins. I just make smaller sections and trim my ends first. I got better results. I did take alot longer doing it this way though. I do not use a hair dryer. With their products my hair was dry enough in about twenty minutes. Then I put my hair in sections. I start in the back first and it glides through with no effort, it's when I do my sides that I loose my strands. It's not a whole lot, but I still loose them. I have pics on my page with my hair done and my daughter's hair who will be 10 on Thursday. I have a relaxer and my daughter's is natural cotton hair. :)

lili - i can't view ur pics, it says i'm forbidden LOL. when i used it with the comb, i noticed the lighter my hand is, the better the results r. if it doesn't glide thru her hair effortlessly (as in the commercial) then i know i'm holding it too tight. She lost very little hair b/c i combed it before hand, sectioned it, braided the sections and when i was ready for each section, i recombed it (just in case) and i didn't have any trouble. She did say ouch once or twice tho LOL.

Your daughter is too cute. Makes me wanna pinch those cheeks with all that cheesin' she's doing. THe maxiglide results are great.

CH-

Ooooweee, like your results, too! Fabulous!

Your little girl is so cute, too! She looks like she's loving the hair too! Good mommy!

I'm not sure why that is happening. Here are the pictures:

I am going to try it again on the weekend and not hold it so tight. I really hope that it works because I love the way my hair feels and it did straighten my new growth very well and my last relaxer was in Feb. 2004. Also my son's hair is natural and it straightened his hair beautifully but the hair snapping and pulling was too much. Thank you for the suggestion CaramelHonee! Your daughter's hair looks beautiful!

DAMN girl that came out great! It's superstraight! All those waves r making me seasick btw :)
Personally, i think maxiglide is good for natural hair, and the regular irons r best for relaxed... but hey, that's just me. LOL

Yeah! I got my maxiglide today.

I just watched the instructional DVD that came with the iron. It said if you use the comb plates don't clamp down too hard on the iron. Boy the products they have to straighten the hair are amazing. The stuff that came in the pinkish bottle looked like gelled toothpaste. But the results were great.

I'm going to use the maxiglide tomorrow or Friday and then I'm going to post results.

thanks you guys and yes, she enjoyed the results, not the sitting and waiting, and wrapping in the doobie, etc. etc. :D

@ skegees - i didn't get an instructional dvd!!!

Your daughter is too adorable for words. Her hair turned out incredible. It makes me want to get a Maxiglide.

I didn't get a dvd either Caramelhonee! I'm glad your daughter allowed you to do her hair. It came out great. You can tell by the look on her face!

But the products do make all the difference in the world. The first time I did it without them and I was going to return the iron. But I went ahead I got the products to see if they would change my mine. I'm so glad I waited.

Also it is true, it's all about the way you hold the iron, too tight and you lose strands!
