I've been thinking about purchasing the Maxiglide for a few months now and finally found a place where I can purchase it locally.
Please respond if you use the Maxiglide and are 100% natural (no relaxers at all).
I appreciate your input.
Thanks

Are those infomercials all cracked up to be what they say?
Do you use it on wet or dry hair?
If you use the Maxiglide, do you use a heat protectant?
What do you do to keep the hair from tangling in it?
Would you recommend it for natural hair?

Hi I was natural before a few days ago.
Definitely dont do it with wet hair!!
And I would recommend blowdrying it with the comb first, because when I didnt, It was entirely too tangled.
Those teeth are serious if the hair is not MAJORLY DETANGLED but it can be done!
I would also recommend using a smooth down type of shampoo/conditioner like from Redken or Aveda.
That will really help get the hairs smooth and straight as possible before using it.
For a heat protectant I used CHI Silk Infusion, according to my research on LHCF thats been what seems like the best to use.

The maxiglide works exzactly like the infomercials say it does:yep:. Trust me, I swear by it.

I wouldn't use it on wet hair and I do use a heat protectant every time I use it. It gets my hair bone straight like a relaxer. I have lots of pics in my album if you want to see results. I would recommend this for naturals but I would not recommend you try to flat iron air-dried loose natural hair like in the infomercial. If you're going to use the iron dry your hair in a way that keeps it detangled like braid it or band it (which I have in my album also), or rollerset it. This way the hair is already de-tangled and the iron will glide down smoothly w/o any hair getting caught in the teeth. HTH.

Just wanted to chime in.
I'm completely natural and I do use the Maxiglide. Purchased it based on reviews here, including Pokahontas.
It is easy to use and it works great. I have never had luck doing my own hair with a regular flat iron, but i get good results with the maxiglide. I shampoo & condition with Redken's SmoothDown products, then rollerset. Once dry I apply a heat protectant and then straighten. I was amazed at the results. I would definitely recommend you give it a try.

-I've actually never seen them (lol), so I can't say.

Do you use it on wet or dry hair?

-Definitely only on dry hair.

If you use the Maxiglide, do you use a heat protectant?

-Yeah. Last time I used Redken Heat glide.

What do you do to keep the hair from tangling in it?

-I personally do not use the plate with the teeth. I just didn't feel the need for it. Especially cuz I felt like my hair was getting caught in it. I know it may have been because I was closing the plates a litte too light...they say you shouldn't close it all the way shut. I wasn't using the steam function at first, either, but now I like to use it. It will be a while before I feel like I've "mastered" the use of my MG, as I've only pressed my hair with it 3 times.

Would you recommend it for natural hair?

-Yes I would. It gets my natural hair pretty straight. Like I mentioned above, I also like the steam function.

ETA: I have some sample sizes of the Redken Smooth Down poo, con and detangling cream. Like another poster mentioned, I like to use this line specifically for when I'm going to straighten my hair.

I was watching the infomercial on HSN earlier and contemplated getting this. I have used the miniglide and love it. It got my hair really straight and was easy to use. I am currently shoulder length and will probably not buy the maxiglide until my hair gets longer but I'm definately going to purchase it.

OMG! Thank you all for such responses. I did not know that so many of you used the Maxiglide on natural hair...especially because the hype on infomercials do not show it.

Thanks EbonyPerez. I have the Chi Silk infusion also. It was recommended to me here too, and it does work great.

And your hair looks great too!

Yes. I saw your album. Thanks. I don't know why I never thought of banding it before. I would think that it would break the hair, but I guess it's only if it's tight. I don't want to use double heat on my hair as I haven't blow dried it in many months now.

Thanks for your chime.
I know what you mean about the flat irons. I have heat protectant and enjoy rinsing my hair every other day, so I wonder if it would work for frequent washing? I'm not really into roller setting.

Thanks for the info. You have such nice hair. How long does it take to do it with the Maxiglide? How often do you straighten your hair?

I saw that same infomercial on PBS...I think that was the one. Anyway, I think I may give it a try. One of my hangups too was that I did not want to order it and re-pay for shipping charges. I recently found it locally, so I will probably buy it soon.

Are there any more maxiglide users.

I would like to know if heat damage can result from it if used too often.

Thanks
