Ladies,
I am torn.....I need to wear my hair straight for a professional formal function and need to know if the maxiglide is good to use or should I try the something else? And what heat protectant do you recommend?

:perplexed Help I am a newbie and I am still learning......

I'm interested in the Maxiglide myself. I saw in in the As Seen On TV store and I was tempted to buy it. :giggle: Is it as damaging as a flat iron?

Hello! I've used the maxi-glide. Mine is now broken but I can say that it was put to work between me and my 2 girls. It works quickly and with little effort. I used Moisture Block ($20/bottle), it works great though.

Well I have a Maxi Glide, and have used it both texturized, transitioning and natural... and I love it. It's great and it makes my hair feel good.

I think you should try it...and try it how you see fit.

Different heat protectors and products work different for everyone. I've used the serum it's come with, as well as CHI Silk INfusion and other things and have had favorable results. Just remember small sections and patience for optimal results!

thanks I was a bit reluctant to try the heat Protectant by maxiglide and chi cause I thought there were cones and alcohol that don't mix too well with natural hair.

Check out mzlatisha's and MissMarie's fotkis and Whimsy's photo album. They have pictures of their results with Maxiglide. They got great results from it.

I have had my maxiglide for years and I love it. I use it more than my Chi. I use the Ion Heat Protectant with it.

I prefer to use the plate with the pins but only use it with small sections and take your time.

I don't have a maxi but I think it works on all typm types because the steam is suppose to straighten. I've seen albums of people with 4a/b and it worked for them, just use a good heat protectant like Nexxus Protexx.

Eventhough I haven't used mine in almost a year, I have a maxiglide but I still use my blow dryer first. My hair could never tolerate that whole "from wet to damp airdried kinks to running the maxiglide straight thru" thing. :) I use my same method of applying wild growth oil while twisting in fat twists all over, let airdry for about 30 mins to an hour...blow dry until 90% dry and run maxiglide thru small sections. See why I rarely straightened? Patience and taking my time was key. I have no complaints though, the teeth got my ends bone straight with no damage that I could tell. My hair would always feel very silky and smooth afterward. I rubbed St Ives Hair Serum throughout each day.

My siggy pic was achieved with a maxiglide. Disregard the poofiness, i am still tweaking my technique. The Maxiglide is the best thing to happen to my natchal hair since I don't know what.

One tip that I've read for Maxiglide is not to clamp it down on your hair tightly when you're using the detangling pins. Leave the plates loose and glide very gently down your hair.

My big thing is..does the hair revert? Or is it staying straight. That's my concern. If it doesn't work isn't that major..but I want my napps to come back.

That has nothing to do with the type of flat iron you are using. If you turn any heat appliance (even a blow dryer) up too high it will burn your hair and possibly not revert.

True. But, I am hearing more incidents with certain type of appliances than others. So I want to know if people are having similar experiences with the maxiglide.

Like there is no way anyone is going near my napps with marcel/stove anything. I just hear way tooo many horror stories using these tools.

My napps are still in full effect & I've used my maxiglide 2 or 3 times.
