Whisper "bleep boop" to yourself when you're sad.
PJ's, help me out! Which is best?

I have the Ultra hydrating and I really like it. I can't compare with the non-ultra but I tend to go for anything that has the word ultra in it.

I have to go with the Ultra Hydrating Balm. The softness and moisturizing is AMAZING!!! I use it when my NG starts acting up on me.

Never tried the regular balm, but when I did use Matrix I loved the ultra! ITs very thick and creamy!! i just may revisit at some point!

Hi, Tiffers! I have both and they work well but I prefer the Hydrating Balm over the Ultra-Hydrating Balm. The Hydrating Balm is thinner than the Ultra-Hydrating Balm but it works extremely well for my transitioning hair and is an awesome detangler. When I first used the Ultra-Hydrating Balm I found it to be too heavy and oily for me for daily/weekly use so now I use it after heavy protein treatments and it balances things out.

I've never tried the hydrating balm, but the ultra hydrating one is amazing. I have natural hair though, so maybe my hair needs all that...

I prefer the Hydrating Balm. I like that is in cone-free. Also, my hair never likes PVP in conditioners, as the ultra has.

I have used both and the Ultra tends to leave my hair feeling like it has a coating, which I don't like. The regular one rinses well and my liquid leave-in still can soak in.

I have one more tub of the Conditioning Balm that I am using up, but I don't think I am going to buy either of these anymore because both have parabens pretty high up on the ingredient list.

Well, I just finished shampooing with the Ultra Hydrating Shampoo and conditioned with the hydrating balm and used the hydra-seal leave-in creme. I like the shampoo - left my hair feeling cleansed and moisturized. I like the Conditioning Balm, left my hair with good slip and I used it to dc. I noticed doing my rollerset that hair had less tangles, which is why I decided to try a product line vs. individual products.

Since I like the conditioning balm so much, I'm going to purchase the Hydrating Balm too. Ulta has a buy 2 get one free on Biolage products.

older thread, but my 2 cents--it's been years since I've used these, but I definitely preferred the regular hydrating balm to the ultra

They have since changed the ingredients in both, so I don't really know how they fare now.

When I used these products, I preferred the Ultra because it felt really hydrating without me having to add any oil to get extra slip (like I did with the regular one).

i used the ultra, but 2 be honest i liked it more once i mixed some oils and yogurt into it

i just bought tth ultra hydrating balm amd the hydra seal leave in i havent tried them yet but im hoping they will work nicely together does anyone use the leave in??

The ultra hydrating balm makes my transitioning hair feel like satin. I swear, there is nothing in the world like it. Staple for life!

*bump* any naturals use this? Can you share your thoughts on it please?

Ultra is a good product. Good moisture and softness, not much slip though. I still have some in my stash, I should use it... maybe with some hemp oil :scratchch

I used the ultra-hydrating balm. Left my hair feeling and looking good and frizz-free. I still have a very old tube left with maybe 1-2 treatments left. Think I'll try it as a leave-in. I sure miss the curl creme that's been discontinued. Good stuff.

I loved the Ultra best for my hair. However, I have not used for a few years because I can't seem to find it. I purchased the big tub from Ulta back 2009. The last time I was there (spring of this year) I did not see it. :(

Aw, lilsparkle825 this made me smile. :hugxplode: You're too sweet!

tiffers I've been seeing your posts lately, and they make me smile, too! I missed your e-presence. :Rose: You come back and your hair is all curly and natural and beautiful and whatnot....you better do that!! (insert around-the-world-and-back snap)

That smiley is too adorable, even though its head is exploding!

Any others with experience with the GVP version from Sally's?

Is there a difference between GVP Conditioning Balm and Matrix Biolage Hydrating Balm?

Well, according to GVP Conditioning Balm and Matrix Biolage Hydrating Balm have the same ingredients.

I went and dug out my GVP Conditioning Balm. I remember it now, though it was many hundreds of conditioners ago. I used quite a bit of it and I have no complaints. Got the job done for me.

i tried the gvp version, and it made my hair soft, even though i cant give it a complete review because i used it on dirty hair...but gvp products are on sale this month at sallys.
