......because my 4a/b hair tangles at the thought of a wash and go!! I know to be prepared for a serious detangling session if I do it. Does anyone have any techniques? Please share!

I detangle my hair in the shower with loads of conditioner and then after the shower, I WnG with either leave in or some curling gel. I use my Denman at that time and I never have tangles.

I'd guess I'm a 4 something.

I can't remember where I read this here but I read that if you detangle before wetting your hair then part your hair in sections and add a lot of conditioner in the shower it is easier to detangle. I have not tried this because I still have a TWA je je je!! But whenever my hair gets to that point I intend to do this technique.

What do you do to it at night? How long will the WnG last?

Depending on how I do my wng's, they last 1-2 days. If I'm being lazy, I cowash my hair in the shower, leaving it in to detangle. I rinse, add more and mix with PC, detangle one more time (both wide tooth combs), and rinse. I add KBB Hair Milk and seal with oil, if I feel like adding gel--depends on laziness factor--I do that by section. Normally I'll do that every day, 2 if it's a weekend.

If I'm being careful, I'll wash and DC. I'll use Teri's method of loading conditioner (literally googobs) and detangle with my Denman. I'll then section my hair and add gel to each section and do the smoothing method. I'll hop under the dryer for a little while, and then I'll pseudo-pineapple my hair before going to sleep. I can get at least 2, sometimes 3, days out of that before washing, and without a major detangling session.

Braided roots!

Braid the roots up to about 1-2 inches and leave the ends loose. That's the only way I feel safe wearing daily wash-n-gos. Either that, or cut your hair down to 3 inches. :grinwink:

The detangling session isn't as serious, but still no fun (as if any detangling session is). It is not as damaging on the ends either because the braids prevent shed hair from tangling with the loose hair. Hope that makes sense.

I mix about a cup of EVOO or EVCO into my conditioners (32oz bottles) its coats my strands and the comb glides through when it's wet

I've let my ends out in a ponytail (puffs) and whoa!
Everytime I do this (only in an emergency where I don't have any time to look cute) my hair gets really tangled AND the loss of hair in the shower increases big time! I try to minimize doing WNGs (in part or whole head).

My conditioner wash and goes take about 10 minutes (assuming that I dont do a deep conditioning treatment).
First I conditioner wash with ORS Olive oil replenishing conditioner. I may leave it on for 5-10 minutes while I wash up.
Then I rinse and use a dolop for a leave in

Then I add Organics texture my way curl keeper and a dolop of fantasia sparklelites and I used my denman brush to detangle and smooth

I get out the shower and smooth the lovely brown gel through the surface of my hair through the ends, add a handband, brush down the sides very carefully.
I add a scarf to smooth the edges for about 10 minutes and go.
It took about a week after BC to perfect but I do it every morning about or every 1-2 days before work.

Not a problem!
