Can mango butter be used as a heat protectant when flat ironing. or should I go with something like biosilk or ion heat protectant?

I don't normally use it because it tends to leave my hair wet and gooey like and makes it hard to flat iron.

Well I've used it once.. I buy mine from www.mountainroseherb.com its kind of hard and you have to warm it up in your palm...then apply it to the hair..then flat iron. I swear my hair was soft and swinging. but I was wondering if it's actually a heat protectant or do i need to go out and buy one.

I have done it a couple of times and it was pretty good. Mind you my hair is thick so I don't worry much about products weighing down my hair.

I prefer a serum (Kenra!!) for light and airy hair.
