Making French Braids look Kute

Okay so I'm in this lil competition at my school Friday. I would much rather perfer curls since my hair is short, but our director would liek us to wear to french style braids in our hair, one on each side. Since my hair is shooort I think this will look ugly. What are some options of making this look not so Miss Celie? I was thinking abotu makybe doing a braid out and hten undoing it and french braiding it so it would look wavy all over. I wouldn't mind weave, but I need to go to the store lool

you'll probably have to go to the store, but if you 'have' to do two french braids...you could purchase some pearl beads..and insert on the sides in alternating directions to add some 'ump' to the braids themselves.

I vote for hair accessories to dress up the braids.

Yup I second that about the beads. They have some combs also with the beads attached to them where you can slide the combs through the braids as well. I think it'll look cute with beads definitely. They also have these small gold or silver balls (sold in a package of usually 10-12) where you can use hairpins to slide through the balls and insert them in the hair as well.

Also someone else told me once you can use buttons (I know I have tons) of extra button laying around - use them with the hairpins.
