With all the excitement about lace fronts and them still not being affordable to most...Has anyone considered just making their own? Most of them say they are hand made anyway. When I searched the topic I did find a video that looked hopefull its called Hair Ventilation. I would love to know if anyone has attempted to make their own!

I'm thinking it's like latch hook just on a smaller scale and I've done latch hook before. Also I'm thinking I would just buy a wig, cut the front hair line out sew the lace in and then tie the hair in so it wouldnt be a very big area. Does that sound right?

i started making my own lace front to attach to a wig and it was painstakingly hard too time consuming and hurt my eyes, but if you have the time and patience go ahead
to me its worth just buying one for $200 once you figure in your own labor it would have been worth it to buy one and work on it

msportugal where did you get your supplies from? and how did you go about it? Did you attempt to tie the whole thing or only the front?

I'm not msportugal but, hisandher.com sells all the supplies for making wigs and lace fronts (ie: lace, ventilation needle, etc.)

the lace that you get for the wigs is expensive so i tried on toule fabric as a practice which i suggest it was super time consuming and i quit without the expense of the reall supplies

It's roughly 15 bucks at hisandher.com for the lace for a yard (1 yard x 1/2 yard). I don't think that's expensive at all.

It seems like the most expensive part will be the wig and then the hair. That 1 yard of lace can do a lot of wigs i bet.
