Maintaining Braids

Hello all. I just got braids on Friday (corn rows in front, and individuals everywhere else). I'm wondering if you all can give me some tips on how to maintain these joints, and retain my length. I know I need to keep them moisturized, but what it the best way to do so without causing the frizzies?

I've been baggying the ends every night so far... Is this a good idea (as some of my own hair is exposed at the ends).

Any products You all swear by? Is oil sheen a good idea?

HELP!!!!:wallbash:

Get a braid spray and add infusium 23 (brown) to it for daily or otherwise use, naturallady has a method for washing using a stocking cap to reduce frizzes (check her fotki or pm her) for the braid spray check www.growafrohairlong.com - she also has a good reggie (wash and DC once a week - how to wash etc) HTH

I used a modified version of Robin's method.

My Regimen
December (kinky twists, but I'm not doing 2 months)

Modified oil rinse:
* I put shikakai/alma oil my scalp and massage it with the electric scalp massager for 5 minutes.
* I mix up some Humectress with castor oil in an empty bottle and added about 16oz of warm water then shake to combine.
* I pour that over braids and squeeze in.
* wrap with plastic wrap and sit under dryer for 20 minutes
* rinse with warm water.

Wash day:
* put a capful of poo in a bottle (garlic poo usually) mix with 16oz of water and shake
* pour over scalp and massage in
* rinse
* put humectress and castor oil in empty bottle, add 16oz of warm water and shake to combine.
* pour over braids and squeeze
* wrap with plastic wrap and sit under dryer for 20 minutes
* rinse with warm water.

At night: I spray it with eqyss and wrap with a scarf.

Your own hair is exposed at the ends of the braids? If so, a good idea would definitely be to baggy but I thought the one of the reasons most people wear braids is to reduce stress on the ends of your hair....unless you wear your braids up.

Thanks ladies!
Yeah, unfortunately some of the ends of my hair are out... I have added hair, but it wasn't LONG enough to complete braid my hair all the way to the ends. (Clearly I should have gotten 20" or 22"... but was too cheap)

Do you use the stocking cap?
