I am wondering if a person can safely switch from using a lye relaxer to a no lye relaxer. Any potential dangers of doing so? Has anyone done this before?
I have done a search and cannot find anything specifically related to my question. I only find comparisons between the two.
Thanks for the reply Shunta. What if one needs to do a corrective. That would mean going over previously relaxed hair. Would the corrective need to be with lye since the previous was with lye or can you do a corrective over lye with no lye?
Yeah when i switched from lye to no lye (like 5 years ago) i dont remember experiencing any problems or issues.
Hmmmm, I dont know about the corrective..... i personally wouldnt do it. I just don like the idea of applying the no lye over the lye relaxer. Sometimes im underprocessed, and i just wait until the next relaxer time to touch-up. Its cool with me, gives me a fuller, texlaxed look if you will. I dunno.... wait to see what the other ladies say. Ive just personally never done the corrective, so the idea makes me a tad nervous.
I would like to know about correcting with a no lye as well. I am a new self relaxer since January and I still havent completed a successful lye perm so now I am dying to try no lye despite all the negs that a preached on it...but i dont want to go bald when I go over previously "relaxed" hair that looks barely texturized and just a heap of confusion. Hopefully someone has some insight on that. Good luck Asha
