I have 2 questions: How do you prepare your scalp for a lye relaxer? Inspired by the ladies of this board, for my next touchup I decided to go with a lye instead of a no lye relaxer. My hair turned out great, but the area around my hairline is another story... I dont have any scabbing, just some superficial burns. My next question is how can you purchase brands like Elucence and Affirm relaxers w/o having a cosmetology license. Please advise...

My mom does my relaxers and applies vaseline on my scalp.
She uses ElastaQP or Motions relaxer, so I dont know about how others may purchase Elucence or Affirm. Some that use those relaxers get their hair relaxed at a salon. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thanks for the feedback!

Poohbear-I used the Motions Oil Mosturizer in Mild(it felt more like super!) Other than burning my scalp a bit I liked the results I got!

I slap vaseline all over my scalp...a lot of it
