There is no reason why you should blow up like a cow just because you are on a high protein diet. If you get enough aerobic activity, lift weights and eat low glycemic carbs (think veggies and greens insted of bread/pasta/sweets), and you will definately LOOSE fat. Think Atkins, South Beach, and any other high protein/low carb diet.

There are plenty of healthy protien alternatives. Most protien is healthy unless you deep fry it or stick to red meat. I try to eat about 4-6 servings of protien per day. Each serving is between 150 and 200 calories. I love seafood and protien shakes, I eat some chicken and very little beef and pork. But both beef and pork can be healthy if you stick to the correct portion and avoid gravy and other fatty sides/additions.

cool beans! I'm sticking to fish: eggs: chicken and for my own personal treat now and then steak :D

i do mess around with the protain drinks but i jog and swim (just started this week) and i love steam veggies :)

Fyi, i LOST weight while drinking my whey protein shakes. Thats because I would subsitute one meal for the shake. It was 250 calories, which is probably less than i would have eaten for lunch or dinner. And the shake is so thick and filling..... so essentially, i was getting vital protein and shedding pounds. It was a win-win situation!

Isn't it awesome how protein seems to help everything? Hair, nails, weightloss, how much better can it get!

Girl if thats the case noooo!!! I did the same thing, i was adding borage oil to my smoothies in the morning and didnt factor that into my diet. I started gaining weight and stuff. I got back on my Weght watchers kick and realized I was sacrificing calories adding that to my shake so I started taking supplements instead.....Anyhoo to make a long story short its a way to get around anything, if you do a little research and perserverance.hth

:) 'eh really? wheat protain drinks? where'd u get them?

I was drinking Perfect Zero Carb Isopure (Mango Peach) from GNC. Its a lactose free, fat free, glutamine enriched, carbohydrate free protein supplement. And it contains 50 grams of 100% Ion Exchange Whey Protein Isolate. So this is one of the highest concentrated protein shakes. Drawback: Kind of expensive! I bought the large tub, because it was the most economically efficient.... but I got tired of the taste after like 3 weeks. Next time i may get a smaller tub, just so i can finish it off. I still have 1/4 container sitting on my fridge. Too disgusted to drink anymore. A shame, it used to be so yummy!
