Long time transitioner - I wore my own hair out this week!!!

I have been transitioning since 12/2007 and never have worn my own hair (unless straightened) outside the house. I do still have some relaxed ends but I use perm rods to give them curl. My hair is finally at a length that I am comfortable wearing it outside. I never did a BC.

I have been trying braid outs for a few days and on Wednesday I finally wore my own curly hair to the office for the first time:grin: The funny part is a colleague had on a half wig similar to Outre's Aisha (I told her about my wig collection) and I had been planning to wear Aisha that day. I wore my own hair on Thursday for a meeting & lunch with a friend and I am wearing my own hair out again today with the sides twisted up & pinned.:grin::grin::grin::grin:

whoa i love your hair
how much relaxed hair do you have left

i was just looking for your fotki yesterday

I am transitioning too without BCing. I would love to do perm rod sets and have tried to do them several times but can't figure out how to work the rods. How do you get the perm rods to stay in your hair? When I have tried to use them they are loose and slide off my hair and move all around on my head instead of staying put.

Help please.

BTW...your hair is beautiful. It looks sooo healthy and strong.

Beautiful Hair!

87 weeks!?! I have great things to look forward to and hope I can transition this long.:yep:

Nice  You are inspiring me! Your texture reminds me a bit of my own ng.

I think I want to transition, but I'm chicken. I've been relaxed/texlaxed for most of my life.

I love picture #16. You do the nicest buns in your hair. Can you please tell me how you achieve this look? You make it look so effortless.

Thanks ladies! In some places I have no relaxed ends (nape & back of my hair) but in some spots I have what looks like at least 1 inch still of relaxed ends (mostly at the sides).

I had been relaxed since age 10. Getting to know my hair has been challenging sometimes but most often fun.

I have not had a problem with getting the rods to stay put. I wrap them (since the rods have texture) and just roll about 2 inches upward, snap them into place and then put on my bonnet. Maybe secure yours with bobby pins?

Thanks! I cannot take credit for the bun though. It's the SouthernTease bun. She made a video too.

It took me a few tries to get it right but after that I was wearing that bun a few times per week. http://public.fotki.com/RegsWife/a-new-protective-updo/

Beautiful!!!!! I love the hairdo with your hair twisted on the sides and left down at the back.

Extra extra motivation for me to keep going till 18 months (78 weeks)!!!!

Thanks for sharing :-)

Yea from your picture it looks like yours stay put. What do you mean by roll upward?

Congrats :-)! Your hair looks beautiful and you have made tremendous progress! I love some of the styles in your album.
