Long time natural getting ready to texturize...

Hey

I've been natural since Nov.1999. It has been a long struggle, but for the past three years i've really turned the health of my hair around. I have been going back and forth with this decision for months. But i am so tired of planning my life around my hair. It's soooooooo thick and time consuming. I'm tired of the braids and twists, i want to wear my out without worrying about if it's hot or raining outside. I wanna go to the club and not worry about sweating my hair out. Don't get me wrong, i love my natural hair and i'm glad i made the decision to go natural. But now i want a change. Not too drastic, i still want my hair to be thick and have curls, just looser and not so time consuming. I still plan on doing everything else the same, protective styles, low heat, natural products, etc. Since i'm in the air force and have to work out regularly, my hair really stresses me out. I have come to accept the fact that it's only hair. At first i was so disappointed with myself, because i wanted to be natural for life! but, i've made my mind up. if i want to be natural again, i could do it.

I bought the 4 lb bucket of Elucence lye relaxer in normal along with all the shampoos and the barrior balm. I plan on doing it Dec. 1st, so it will be fresh for my 26th b-day on Dec.7th. I'm so excited!!!

i used henna almost a year ago and still have 250 grams left, so i'm gonna mix some more up and do some strand tests so i can do the henna before and after a relaxer. Right now i'm keeping my hair braided and doing strengthing treatments. I want my hair strong before i relax. i will be doing my game plan on strands of hair saved from different sections of my head because i have about 4 different textures. if the strand tests turn out good, then i shall proceed with my whole head.

the game plan:
-I will be doing it myself in sections.
-The night before i'm gonna spray my hair with aphogee keratin and green tea restructurizer. i will base my scalp with the barrior balm
-When i rinse out the relaxer, i'm gonna add a protein condish for 5 minutes and then neutralize with the acidifying poo 3 times, letting the neutralizer sit for at least 5 minutes each time.
-i will pour a mix of distilled water and acv over my head to make sure all the relaxer is out
-i'm gonna wash with elucence moisture poo and deep condish for a few hours and then put some ghee on for a few hours for deep moisturizing

any other tips or suggestions?

Is it safe to put a relaxer on your hair after you've put in henna?

as long as it's not compound henna. but i'm doing strand tests on hair i've saved out of my comb to be sure it works ok. if that works, then i'll do my whole head.

5 minutes for the post-rinse protein treatment sounds a little long. Are you adding some of that time to the total time the relaxer will be on your head?

Do you ma. I'm excited for you. I can't wait to see pics!

the box says 15-18 minutes relax time. i plan on leaving it on around ten minutes and then 5 minutes for the protein treatment, so yes it's added to the total time.

thanks everyone for the good luck...i've been praying about about it and i'm still a little nervous, but still so excited!! i can't wait to sport my new do!!
